I'd rather keep Luke than Wes. Luke is simply a solid backup PG while Wes is just awful, i think he's a nice guy, contributes some team chemistry and could be a 8th or something option. But not a starter and not a key reserve. I say trade him as long as other teams believe, he could become a good player.

I think with JJ Barea back, Luke Ridnour is available. He was signed to be a classic PG you could start in a pinch, but would accept the role of back-up PG and mentor to Rubio. He can be a very good shooter as well, and he has a good contract (about $4 mil/yr for 3 years). I don't think the team could have expected for Rubio to adapt to the NBA this fast, and Barea (and Adelman) is more than enough mentoring. I think Luke has slightly positive trade value - nothing crazy though.

Wes Johnson is a harder player to get a grasp on. I think Narf is right about Johnson's assets, and I see more interest in him on the Trade Board than almost any Wolves player. Most of those posters think he has the characteristics (sans dribbling) to be a decent player in the league, and maybe he just needs a change of scenery to start being more productive. While this "more valuable elsewhere" should make him a likely trade candidate, GM's hate to look stupid with their lottery picks, and would rather tell fans, "Just you wait -- he's young!" Who can blame them, and they may be right. Kahn already takes a lot of heat for Jonny Flynn, and I think with SG being a need of ours, he might be too expensive to trade for. Last year, there was a lot of talk about a trade centered around Wes and Andre Iguodala, but his value has gone down since then. If Wes isn't getting a strong offer (and I don't think he merits one), or is a piece on a bigger deal, I suspect Kahn will hold onto him.

Looking for a player like Tony Allen.

Tony Allen, OJ Mayo and Pau Gasol are the players that I wish we had :( .

I´m also a believer in Wes Johnson.

I get the feeling that he´s just nervous. His atleticism is good, his defense looks good also, even his shot mechanic looks smoth. Seems to have a good work ethic (otherwise I don´t think he would be a starter with Adelman).

Selling him now would probably be selling him low. He just seems to have a lot of potential. You don´t trade a player like before blooming. We need patience on him.

Ridnour is just the opposite. He´s not getting any better and has shown himself as a very reliable shoter and solid PG that doesn´t turn the ball over. Very interesting role player for a good bunch of teams. I don´t think his trading value is getting any better in the future. This could be a case of selling in the right timing.

I'm curious...how do you all value Pekovic? He has been playing well lately, but I am not sure he is all that great.

Fill in the blank with < > or =
Jason Thompson __________ Pekovic

I am perfectly fine wiith you saying this, but can you explain? I mean you might think Pekovic is better than Thompson, but he isn't leaps and bounds (again, in my mind) ahead of Thompson, as your multiple < would indicate. I mean, Pekovic is averageing 8 pts and 5 rebounds while Thompson averages...8 points and 5 rebounds. I can't believe that Pekovic is THAT much better at defense than Thompson, though I guess it is possible.

Or maybe I am just misreading what you are trying to say.

i wish the coaching staff would work with wes to give his shot more arc. he also is in such a rush to get off his jump shot...last game ricky gave him a pass on the left base line, mid range...wide open and he chucks it up like he couldn't get rid of it fast enough. he could have taken 3-4 seconds to line it up but he chucks it up like the 24 second clock is expiring. he'll also many times pass up open shots to get tough off the dribble shots. wes needs to be much more aggressive driving to the hoop(he's starting to get it, be patient), know where and when his shots are on jumpers and work on being calm and confident in those shots with more arc. i believe in wes....it's so dam hard to at times, but i do.
