I'm fine with it. Firing Silas would be a waste of money unless Jeff Van Gundy put in a resume.

Ride this season out with Silas, but MJ needs to push for any amount of player development he can muster. At the end of the season fire them all, and hire a quality guy proven to work well with young players. Once we secure the #1 pick (surely Stern will finally have pity on this poor franchise and put the fix in for the LOLCATS) the new coach will be motivated to set this team on a new path.

I's also fire Higgins in a nanosecond now, or even after the season, but he must be MJ's remote cousin twice removed or something...the man is teflon with His Airness.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Don't forget who our main competition for the top pick is going to be: that's right, the league-owned Stern-run Hornets (who could conceivably get two top five picks).

Keeping Silas till the end of this year means that Stephen Silas is a new coach with a new Bobcats next year. That's better for Stephen, to get to run a training camp how he likes before his first season, and so that his coaching record doesn't start off 12% wins.

I think we're assuming Stephen will get the nod but will he? There's a certain "retiree" that would fit great here.

As he motivates his players through media him being the coach would provide some more lulz. I can't see him coaching a team who is not a contender already nor has a superstar on its roster.

The real question when is higgins gonna be fired. He is quick to give interviews taking credit whenever something good happens such mullens trade and settling biz contracts. Where is he now?

I use to hear that silas is a lazy coach. And then we had the short trainning camp where every team was taking advantage of all practice time allowed by the new cba except the cats. Silas wanted them to prctice just once a day. I don't care about his reasoning, that was being lazy to me
The curse of Higgins!

lol, I don't care who you put behind the wheel with this team. The results would be the same. Ride it out and wait till next season.

Why is "son of Silas" favored to be the next coach here?? WHat has he ever done to deserve that?

The next coach of this team needs to be a significant upgrade. The Larry Brown hire was that type of deal...on paper. He turned out to be everything we worried about. No, this team needs a proven superstar assistant from a powerhouse team, or a solid experienced head coach who can develop young talent.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

No way the most overrated coach in history would stain his resume by taking on a team that was not already loaded with talent.

I haven't been impressed with the coaching this year.

But after all the criticism over playing time etc, I have been happy with the steady improvement by K & B.

both have been awful. we have played 3 games in 9 days and we still cant come with effort and any kind of crispness to the offense.

some trenchant quotes from last night's CHA-CHI game thread:

just watched his press conference. he is a broken man.- fatlever

don't fire the gentleman, encourage him to retire, before he has a stroke.

this ucla high post is the same offense silas has been running since his 2nd year coaching the hornets back in the 90s.- fatlever

we should be utilizing kemba's speed and penetration ability more than we do. - fatlever

kembas ability to break down defenders should be getting us good shots every time but instead he dumps it to one of the scrub big men we have and is forced to run around off the ball.- Advanced

Compare what's going on here to NY w/ Lin. Is Lin better than Kemba? One thing is for sure: no way Jeremy Lin would be doing what he's doing at NY if he were starting for the Bobcats right now, because Silas would have him running the ucla high post.

So, bringing in a new coach isn't about winning more. It's about developing the young players. There is no question that Silas's offense is a terrible fit for the guy management hand picked to be the Face of our franchise. It's stupid to squeeze him into an ill-fitting offense for an entire season. Start to maximize his talents now. And insert some P&R for Biz. I know his hands aren't great, but a lot of that is comfort/lack of touches. He clearly knows how to seal off his man/get good position for p&rs.

There are legitimate reasons this team needs a new coach that are not solely about winning.

You know I miss the days (last year) when we could blame our lack of sucess on Larry Brown.... By the way I had the funniest thought the other day, I would love to see a parody of the 12'n1gga 12 youtube sensation video picturing the deer as Larry Brown and the Dog as DJ Augustin.
