Great news! please tell me this means we get rid of Cookie, or atleast just NEVER give him court time unless its garbage mins and we are winning lol. Happy with the signing, he'll bring a lot of toughness and defence. I can't wait to see him and Evans lining up next to eachother, with the little plays and loose balls, these 2 will hopefully cause havoc for other teams

Neil Olshey for GM of the year. not only we added a key player in much needed spot, but did so without losing anyone good (clippers history of bad trades and lateral moves). this will also help evans to have limited minutes where he can be more effective in the only skill he is good at, and pushes cookie and solomon out of rotation all together. we add a defensive wing to this squad we are instantly a real contender this year.
ehhhhh f it.

What a nice surprise to come home to. We got Method Man. Blake's minutes can go down without too much of a drop off. We need Blake for the long haul, and this definitely helps with that.

Olshey is doing a helluva job right now. We've got a really nice mix of young guys and vets, have decent depth, and are really making the move in becoming a team to be reckoned with.

Causing havoc? Calm down. KMart will be a solid role player. Evans? I don't know, all he does is rebound. He pretty much sucks at everything else.

I like the signing but I still think we lack depth behind DJ, especially when DJ struggles. I honestly miss Kaman.

It's better than Brian Cook's havoc he causes out there on the court. Mainly other clippers shielding their faces from his line drive 3 point heaves slamming off front rim and rocketing at their faces while they try hopelessly to rebound the abortion of an attempt he just shat at the rim.

I would like to see the Clippers play with a bigger lineup against the Lakers by using Kenyon Martin as a small forward and moving Caron Butler to guard. The Clippers back court is too small and Caron Butler would be a better defender against Kobe. The front court would also have an advantage if Griffin, Jordan, and Martin were on the floor at the same time - it would be too much athleticism and shot blocking for the Lakers to deal with.

Are the Clippers still thinking about signing J.R. Smith?

I think against big teams, they'll try that lineup.

As for JR, I've heard he's interested in the Clippers, but haven't heard anything about the Clips being interested in him.

CLIPPERS SIGN KENYON MARTIN

The Los Angeles Clippers today signed free agent forward Kenyon Martin. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not announced. An 11-year NBA veteran and former NBA All-Star (2004), Martin joins the Clippers after signing with the Xinjiang Guanghui Flying Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association this summer.

“Kenyon is the ultimate competitor and a key acquisition," stated Vice President of Basketball Operations Neil Olshey. “We expect that he will provide additional experience, passion and professionalism, as well as some important depth to our front court."

Martin, 34, has played in 654 career NBA games with the New Jersey Nets and Denver Nuggets and 89 playoff games. The 6-foot-9, 234 pound forward brings career averages of 13.5 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.2 blocks to the Clippers.

The consensus 2000 NCAA Player of the Year after a stellar career at the University of Cincinnati, Martin was drafted by New Jersey with the number one overall pick of the 2000 NBA Draft. Martin was a key member of two Nets teams that made back-to-back appearances in the NBA Finals in 2002 and 2003.

The Dallas, Texas product enjoyed his best statistical season in 2003-04 with New Jersey when he averaged 16.7 points and 9.7 rebounds and was selected to the All-Star Team.

Martin is expected to join the Clippers on their current road trip in Orlando and will wear uniform #2.

He's mentioned the Clippers a few times on Twitter, but he's also mentioned the Knicks, Lakers, Thunder and Bulls.

Neil Olshey has been preaching about adding players with good character and hard workers, but also players that truly wanted to be here. Time will tell if we have interest in him.

The Knicks can offer him 2.5M. The Bulls have the BAE if I'm not mistaken. Oklahoma City still has the majority of their MLE. Clippers and Lakers can only offer the minimum. The one thing that we do have in our favor is that Smith has played with Paul, Billups, Martin and Evans in the past. They'll all likely be recruiting him.

The court would be too compressed. If one of those guys was a stretch big, then it could work, but offensively, it will cause problems. Defensively, Blake is probably a better perimeter than Kenyon is, at least at this stage of their careers, so defensively, it would be Blake at SF.

Just wanted to congratulate you guys on getting Martin. By this signing, I truly believe you guys are heavy favorites to make the finals, along with the Thunder.

It's also nice to watch a fun team play ball, unlike my lowly Suns...
Looking forward to the 28-29 season.

Still need to work on defense before being favorites to do anything. 25th ranked defenses based on def rtg don't usually go very far. Even those Phoenix teams were somewhere along the line of 13-18 in def rating from 04-05 to 07-08. In 08-09, when they were 26th in def rtg, even with the 2nd best offense, the didn't make the playoffs and won 46 games.

Their earlier teams that people called terrible on defense were never terrible, just undersized and bad at preventing second chance points. You need at least an average defense to go anywhere far, and that's what the Clippers focus should be for the rest of the season. The Clippers have a lot of good guard play and an elite PG that can make something out of nothing. So because the schedule is dense and there was not much training camp, the practice time should be continually devoted to defense and defensive principles.
