Wilson Chandler

Post#1 » by Dezmondballins3 » Sat Feb 4, 2012 2:24 pm

How would feel about signing wilson when he is done in china? I think he could replace danny and give indiana good flexibility to make a move for any type of trade would you trade collision and granger for a better pg and good bench players?

he'd be an okay backup if George Hill is out for an extended period of time and Lance isn't ready but he wouldn't replace Danny or make us want to trade anyone.

He is just like Kaman good enough to be a starter. There will be teams who offer him that kind of money and the Pacers will likely pass on that.

I would definitely trade Granger and Collison to get an upgrade at the guard position, but you can't blame anyone if they want to see how far this lineup can go in this years playoffs.
They have been doing great so far and better than I expected.

Chandler is not a backup player and if he was he would be one of the best in the leauge at 6th man not just "okay"

If I am Wilson Chandler, I wouldn't sign with the Pacers. He is looking for a nice contract, and he won't get the exposure as a b/u here.

He'd look good in LAL, or even CHI with RIP ailing.

Heres what I would do if I were Larry bird.
Sign Wilson chandler. He wont sign with LAL or CHI because they have no cap room Indiania is the best team with Cap room and if they promise him a starting role from next year forward he would most like sign with the Pacers.
Trade Collison and Granger for Kyle Lowry jordan Hill & Chase budinger. Houston wants to get rid of bigs and for two good players like collison and Granger They would jump all over this deal. Pacers get a top 10 point gaurd a good back up for Hibbert and more depth at SF with a guy who caan strecth the floor and score against other bench players.
Pacers roster would look like this.

Kyle Lowry/George Hill/Aj Price
Paul George/Lance Stephenson/Dohntay Jones
Wilson Chandler/Chase Budinger
David West/Tyler Hansbrough/Jordan Hill
Roy Hibbert/Jordan Hill

Looks like a much improved roster Chandler is basically a young Granger Lowry is the best rebounding Gaurd in the league gets 7 a game along with 8 assist to go with 15 points a game. That would help Indiana's fast break game. Hill is way better then Jeff Foster and Budinger is really solid started for houston last season. That's just one option but that looks pretty damn good.

Denver can match, he'd be tough to get unless we overpay.

You don't have to overpay when he is being undervalued. and why not over pay having cap room just for the sake of having it is just dumb I say offer him as much as he asks he is a great young talent.

He is not getting undervalued, there are a lot of teams that would love to get him.

We need the cap room to re-sign Hibbert this offseason.

But very few have Cap Room to sign him and non are competive like the Pacers that do have cap
silly goose all pacers need is hard cap room to resign players who they have bird rights on including hibbert wich they arent even close to reaching.

Ownership doesn't want to have to go above the soft cap in total salaries. We need Hill and Hibbert to both sign with us, and they'll at least total 14 mil which will put us at 47 mil. If I had to pick two out of Hill, Hibbert, and Chandler, I'd go with the guys we already have. Not everyone has the luxury of being a big market team. Any amount of money spent now, no matter who it's on, will reduce our spending flexibility in the offseason.

If this team is afraid of going over the soft cap we might aswell give up on it and sell it to someone who wants to take it to a bigger market city. Your talking out of your ass, I understand the free agents later might be better but why take that risk when you could frontrunner for 24 year star in the making in Wilson Chandler.

And u are seeing stars where there aren't.

I wouldn't even want Chandler on the cheap. He is overrated by a lot of folks just because he put up some nice numbers on the Knicks.
Denver would hardly notice it if they would add him.

Lowry has never impressed me either. He is an overachiever who works very hard, but is a very limited shooter. He is definitely not my first choice for an upgrade.

I don't think Lowry/Chandler replacing Collison/Granger is an upgrade. Probably a downgrade if anything...

Wilson Chandler is a VERY solid all around type talent. I'm shocked people are discounting him so much. He's a solid combo 2/3, who would be PERFECT in a 3 man rotation with Paul and Danny. Those 3 would snap up almost all of the 96 minutes at the 2 and 3 spot for a long-time. He can slash a little, he can shoot the 3 a little, and he can pass a little. Solid defender.

Honestly, if we think we can get him affordably or on the cheap, we should do it. If we're worried about the "Eric Gordon sweepstakes" later, we could always move Danny, and run with a 3 man rotation of Gordon, George, and Chandler. We'd be silly to disregard him so lightly. He may not have shot as well after a mid-season deal to Denver, but that team played so much better when he was in the lineup there.

Denver did just waive Demarre Carroll, clearing a roster spot. I think this is all for naught as they should ideally re-sign him when he returns from China.
