Miami HEAT Hold Intense Team Meeting
Anybody know anything about this? - MODS - do what you gotta do (merge, delete) if not relevant
How did this intense meeting lead to this? What was it all about? Let the players and (Erik) Spoelstra tell it in their own words as they did afterward in the locker room.
Spoelstra: “Not all of all of our moments on this ride are going to be good. Yesterday was certainly a tough day. But everybody was pure about it. Everybody’s intention was to find a way to get better and correct some of the things that ailed us against Milwaukee. It was a long day and we improved. It was a very good team win against a team that was playing very well. We were there about two and a half or three hours. We had to speak the truth. We had to correct some things that we did wrong. Everybody was pure about it. It was a very important team win.”
(LeBron) James: “It was a little bit of everything. It was no holds barred, honestly. There were no tongues being held. If we are going to hold ourselves to a championship standard then we have to go out there and play like it. No one can take things personal if someone says something to him. You have to take constructive criticism. We have to go out there and play at the highest level we are capable of.”

Re: Miami HEAT Hold Intense Team Meeting
Whatever these guys discussed, is surely clicked in Philadelphia. I wonder if Miller said "give me the ball", if Cole was told to take better shots, if Wade was called out (hence his awesome performance yesterday) and James breaking off plays.

Re: Miami HEAT Hold Intense Team Meeting
I have a strong feeling that this really happened and Wade in particular got called out, because the way he was playing against the 76'ers was a vast improvement over the way he was playing the past few games.
Glad to see this team really cares about winning. Sometimes we come out looking so lazy on a bad night that I have a hard time believing we do.

Re: Miami HEAT Hold Intense Team Meeting
There was actually ball movement. I think they spoke about the iso ball too.
But yes I believe they called out Wade. While he was still lazy sometimes last night, he picked it up.
In Milwaukee all he did was try to get fouls, it didn't work.
Miller and even Cole shot the ball when they got it, without hesitation. They probably spoke about that too.
In Milwaukee the shotclock was running down and LBJ gives it to Miller, when Miller just gives it back to LBJ and the shotclock ran down. LBJ looked really angry too lol.
But very good to hear, I heard Tony talking about it yesterday. It really showed. Glad they were being honest with eachother.

Nothing wrong with team meetings. Its a needed aspect of long basketball season, and this is why we have mature veterans leaders on this team like Howard, and Battier. That these meetings will be taking with proffesionalism.

They definitely called out Wade, his play today was night and day from his previous games. He looked much more aggressive against the 76ers.

He's been aggressive since returning. It's not like he's been settling for a plethora of outside shots, he's been getting into the paint consistently his shots just weren't falling for him at the usual clip.

Re: Miami HEAT Hold Intense Team Meeting
He would try to draw fouls and throw up the ball rather than actually try to hit shots. It wasn't just "shots not falling". He did it in Philly though... but made the shots. I think he should becareful. Just play ball man.

I definitely saw much more effort after that meeting, especially from Wade and LBJ on the defensive side. im glad we have a mature team that can get real and talk things through.

Re: Miami HEAT Hold Intense Team Meeting
I actually think Wade's play was a bigger problem on the defensive end vs the Bucks. He wouldn't run back in transition D, instead wait to see if he could cherry pick for an easy basket going the other way, and if he got caught too deep in the lane, he wouldn't even bother running out on the shooter.
I thought he was better vs Philly but still not 100%, much better on D but on ) still forced some shots when he should've moved the ball. Overall though a big improvement.

Re: Miami HEAT Hold Intense Team Meeting
I think Wade played really well last night, especially when he was balanced on his jumpshot during the 2nd half. But I still have a problem with his complaining. Some games (Chicago in particular) he was just throwing up shots in hopes that the refs would bail him out, and he's letting the team down by not getting back defensively because he's barking at the refs and/or not hustling. Even in last nights game when he turned the ball over trying to get it to LeBron, he walked 2-3 steps before he started to hustle back and Igoudala dunked it.

Him and Lebron are unbearable with all the complaining they do. They need to start just playing through the calls.
One thing I loved about Wade performance night was he actually looked to take some mid range shots. For example he hit a real nice pull up jumper on a fast break which he looked real comfortable doing and use to be one of his signature shots.
It is great that Lebron and Wade want to get to the hoop, but it is ok to shoot when they are playing off you. Last night they both took advantage of the space they were getting and started to hit some mid range jump shots.

Re: Miami HEAT Hold Intense Team Meeting
I think everyone here is creating too big of a narrative over one game.
We can blowout any team in the league on any given day.
Wade can have a good game at anytime.
One game means nothing (either way)

Your emotions fuel the narratives that you create. You see what you want to see. You believe what you want to believe. You ascribe meaning when it is not there. You create significance when it is not present.

Re: Miami HEAT Hold Intense Team Meeting
I really hope these things were addressed. And based off of last night's game it seems some of them were.
-Play every game like its our last
-The hero ball has to stop, Miami is deadlier when they play as a cohesive unit
- Wade stop complaining so damn much and get back on defense
- Udonis get in that damn gym and shoot a 1000 of those 12-15 footers a day
- Lebron its your job to initiate the offense late in games
- Bosh we know there are a plethora of above average rebounders on this team, but you gotta get on the boards more stop being lazy and box out for christ sake
-Coach Spo stop being so slow to react to matchups and FREE MY HOMIE JAMES JONES
What I like about this meeting is that it reminds me of the one they had last year after losing to to Dallas and was 9-8..they won 21 of their next 22 games
Here's our next 11 games
vs Toronto
vs Cleveland
@ Orlando
@ Washington
@ Atlanta
@ Milwaukee
@ Indiana
@ Cleveland
vs Orlando
vs Sacramento
vs NY Knicks
Atlanta,Milwaukee,Indiana is the back 2 back 2 back but I sense a nice win streak coming up fellas!

I'm glad they did this again. They did it last year when things were working and everything changed. It seemed everyone last night played to their potential and was more involved with helping each other rather than just doing it on your own.
The upcoming schedule doesn't seem too bad minus the Atlanta, Milwaukee, Indiana back to back to back. Thats a pretty rough stretch right there, really going to need the bench to do some work.

I like it. This Big3 are all taking leadership roles this season. Calling off plays, calling each other out and holding everyone accountable. I'm assuming the jist of the meeting was, "hey guys, we keep losing the easy ones. let's get our **** together." Losing the easy games means they have to work that much harder to ensure they win the tough ones. Hopefully they don't need too many more of these. PEACE.

Re: Miami HEAT Hold Intense Team Meeting
Why does the conversation have to be about what the players did or did not do.
1. Did they discuss why we play LBJ so many minutes?
2. Did they discuss how so many minutes forces other players to stand around?
3. Did they discuss that it really wouldn't Hurt to give JJ 2-3 minutes a game regardless of the matchups?
4. Did they discuss that it really wouldn't Hurt to give CURRY 2-3 minutes a game regardless of the matchups?
5. Did they tell LBJ to stop pounding the ball on offense?
6. Did they tell Chalmers to get into the offense a little quicker?
7. Did MENTION TO THE COACH that players do not have to come out of the game at 2 fouls?
8. Did they tell Miller, it's ok to catch and shoot on 2 consecutive plays?
9. Did they tell Shane Battier that it's ok to take an open shot?
10. Did they tell the offense to inbound the ball quicker and stop letting the opponent come down unchallanged on defense?
DID THEY DISCUSS ANY OF THIS - HUH?

Bosh, who appeared visibly frustrated with James’ isolation plays against the Bucks, called Thursday’s meeting “extremely important.”

I hope they got on Spo for allowing isolation/no ball movements so much - call a damn time-out, set up plays that actually include passing and good shot opportunities - do some coaching
- damn stand around ball; I can't stand it
