For whatever reason, that Blatche trade doesn't excite me at all.

I was wrong (Did I say that?) to write it off. Portly's going to match - if for no other reason than to do a sign and trade. At some point soon, Marcus Camby's going to be eligible for Social Security, and Greg Oden - who looks older - will be on his 25th season of saying wait till next season - so Portly could use a young center to groom behind the Cambyman.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

That McGee for Batum trade proposal was me several weeks ago. I had the foresight to see back then that McGee wasn't the answer for us long term, especially at what it was going to take to keep him ($10m/yr). If anything, mcgee's trade value And what he's worth is going down with each game he plays so we really need to move him now for whatever we can get.

I'd also do McGee for Derrick Williams if MIN wanted to go there again.

I like Batum, but I don't like him for the $9M or so a year he's going to ask on his new contract. I'd much rather trade McGee for a pick or a rookie contract and then go sign Wilson Chandler.

Does Chandler have the ability that Batum does?

Then amnesty Lewis. Let everyone else go except Wall, Booker, Singleton and Seraphin. (Blatche is kept but is not allowed to join the team in training camp until he gets his body fat index below 10% and can squat 350 pounds. Either that or we trade him for somebody like Ben Gordon.)
Then use our $31M in cap room to buy the best veteran team we can buy, even if we have to overpay everyone. Let's say we acquire Rudy Fernandez, Wilson Chandler and Robin Lopez, plus maybe a few over-the-hill character guys like Antonio McDyess. Put them alongside Booker, Seraphin and Wall, and then draft good players at #3 and #9.
If all goes well, our team next year looks something like this:
PG Wall/Gordon
SG Fernandez/Gordon
SF Kidd-Gilchrist/Chandler/Singleton
PF Booker/McDyess/Henson
C Lopez/John Henson/Seraphin
Obviously, we'd be better off landing the top pick, but I'm trying to be as realistic as possible. This team needs to be completely gutted and all weak-minded knuckleheads replaced.

The strange thing to me is that Minny seems to think Williams is strictly a 4. Otherwise, they'd be starting him over Wes Johnson.

I appreciate the being realistic part - not many people do that. But Robin Lopez at center isn't going work - I question whether or not he's even a decent backup. Henson doesn't have the bulk to help there. With Wall and Gilchrist, you need a couple of jump shooters in the starting lineup. Both are really good, but neither is a good shooter. You almost have to get a PF like Anderson to go with those 2. I like the Rudy pick-up.

then for your second one i looked at cutting out NO.
would HOU go for something like McGee + Janchise for Thabeet and Minny 1st?
They get a good backup for Sam at C.
