Re: jason thompson not in kings future plans
I still think JT will be moved because I think a team out there might view him as a little more than a role player. He might even be more than that. JT has clearly been a solid fit next Cousins from the first time they've played together but JT's best asset for this team is that he knows how to stay out of the way. I don't know how much that's worth money wise, but we've all seen how valuable it is on the court.
I actually think both JJ and JT might be moved, but if it's only one, right now JT is beating out his competition in the fit category.

Well, I think it is up to JT since the Kings won't break the bank to re-sign him. I personally think it would be a bad move to trade JT since he has grown a lot since last year and demonstrated that he can play alongside Cousins. If you can improve by trading him then by all means but if you are trading him just to trade him then no. Versatile big men are hard to find besides what would you get for JT? It wouldn't be a player worth the risk of ruining chemistry. If JT wants stay here let him stay and grow with this team.

I wonder about our most recent draft pick (Fredette); he seems to be coming around but the jury is still out.
The Kings do need to find a veteran true pg to come off the bench or maybe start.
I think moving Tyreke to SG or even SF and allowing Jimmer or Isaiah to start would be a step in the right direction. Adding a veteran Point should be a priority for sure if continue to show that they can't handle it yet

Re: jason thompson not in kings future plans
Hey Philly fan here, we could use a 10-20 minute big off the bench who's not a complete liability on either end of the floor. I wondering what it would take to get JT? Philly/Sac have dealt in the past, that IMO worked out well enough for both teams that I think they'd both be willing to at least talk.
Frankly, I don't see Philly looking to give up a lot for the big they are looking for as it would be a bench body, but just curious if he's 'not in the future plans' if you'd be looking to get something before letting him walk in the off season. (I don't see Philly looking to resign him either, I think they'd rather have the cap space then offer him the QO) So anything you could see that gets it done?
I think Philly would look to try to start a deal off with the 2nds that they have (own '12,'13, NOH '13, Mem '12) and then go from there, thoughts?

You will have to do better than 2 round picks.

As if the Kings have plans at all. I'm convinced that Joe and Gavin make all team decisions with a roll of the dice.

Yeah, no kidding. I doubt that JT's improvement in the post is going unnoticed around the league.

I simply meant that was where Philly would be looking to start, I wasn't trying to be insulting. I've seen little of jt outside of unfulfilled potential, didn't realize he was starting to put it together

Re: jason thompson not in kings future plans
The Kings would be dumb to leave Thompson out of their plans. He is the only player in the roster that's shooting over 50+%. He is the most consistent player from the Kings as strange as that sounds.
If it was a choice of JT or JJ, I take JT in a heartbeat.

yes please, he's the exact sf we need. You can take Garcia or Donte with JT just to clear the space at SF

There was a recent proposal on the trade board that virtually all sides agreed was fair. It had Wes matthews and Wallace going to GS for Monta and Wright. I would proose swinging Wright to you for JT, we could take Donte back as well

Re: jason thompson not in kings future plans
Really? Portland would trade Wallace and Matthews for Wright and Ellis? Why?
Although the stats probably don't show it but I think this has been Jt's best year. He seems to have improved in every aspect of his game, he knows his role and does it well. Trading him for Wright is tempting, Wright is what the Kings need. But Kings need JT IMO, otherwise we are left with Hickson. JT > Hickson.

I somewhat agree with you but if the Kings could draft a defensive big man and trade for Wright, that would be a decent team.

Trade high. We fall for this kind of stuff almost every year. Don't know who we have a shot at but we should be making him available.

Maybe.
But to be fair, Thompson ALWAYS produces when given minutes. I like Thompson and he does has some flaws but dude bust his balls every night and plays hard. He can be a very nice 3rd big for a contending team.
I don't think I'm willing to let him go unless the returning package fills a need for us.
If it was the choice of Thompson or Hickson, I rather keep Thompson.

Re: jason thompson not in kings future plans
JT is just solid.
He can be dumber then a shoe at times, but he brings you the points and rebounds when you give him minutes and play in a proper system where he knows his place and got a defined role - something we didn't have for a few good years and are starting to get since Smart came by.
He's surely a keeper if we won't need to overpay for him - I think it's a no brainer to match what he'll get... 10\10-esque bigs who can play both positions are not a dime a dozen.

Re: jason thompson not in kings future plans
Something often overlooked is that he is a freaking PEST on "D" to some VERY good 4's and 5's.
I don't fool myself by thiking that he is a 48 minute shutdown guy, but he really gets into guys for 7 to 10 minute stints and that can be a huge differential over the course of a game.

Re: jason thompson not in kings future plans
Letting JT go would be ridiculous. The grass always looks greener on the other side, and while we're lamenting what JT does not do every other team in the league is salivating at the thought that we might be dumb enough to let him go. I wouldn't trade Francisco either.
