I don't want to start a new thread here. But please, I'm hoping that Jeremy Lin is not the 2012 version of Sundiata Gaines.

Jeremy Lin will start at point guard in Monday's game against the Jazz.
Lin is a 23-year-old Harvard graduate that bounced between the D-League and the Warriors last season. On Saturday, he came off the bench for 25 points, seven assists, five rebounds and two steals while sparking the Knicks to a win over the Nets. While expecting a replication of that game is unrealistic, coach Mike D'Antoni's system does have the potential to be extremely point-guard friendly. Lin should be looking at 27-32 minutes Monday, while Iman Shumpert and Toney Douglas head to the bench. Baron Davis (back) is not expected to return this week.

What happened to all the love for Shump? I clearly remember people declaring the man crushes on him.

I always thought most of the board agreed Shump was much more suited as a SG. And maybe coming off the bench would do him some good since recently he's been playing a little off.

Rapid jumping on and off bandwagons regarding a player is a common thing on here. Yes, there were people, without seeing Shump play a single regular season NBA game, say he was the PG of the future for the Knicks, and he could man the PG spot fine. Lin has also been subject to this, to where he goes from being the worst player in the history of the Knicks to ending up being pushed as starter. Well, considering how devoid the Knicks are at PG, particularly with Bibby missing in action, it would make sense to start Lin at PG.

Agreed. Shump's best games were off the bench. Starting may be a little too much for him at this point.

word. that and shump is not quite the passer we need at the 1. he will be a solid tweener, though. this is what we expected for the most part.

so long as shump-shump keeps working on getting his jumper consistent, we've got a real player.

shump is much mor valuable coming off the bench and being aggressive with the 2nd unit. Lin is perfect for the 1st unit get Melo, Amare, and Tyson easy looks early.

Shump can now come of the bench and be more agressive attacking which is what we want. He was too passive in the starting lineup.

Wasn't it literally like less than a week ago when Dantoni said (referring to Lin) "Those guys at the end of the bench, we don't worry about them playing"

I can clearly see why Dantoni doesn't get a paycheck for being a player scout

You're right man... as a Knick fan it is impossible to like two different players at once. You have to choose one of them, you can't want both of them to succeed! You should start the first Shump VS Lin thread! Your my hero!
