And I don't buy that other NBA teams needed help in other positions so they didn't feel a need to keep him. If GS and Houston didn't need backcourt help they just shouldn't have discarded the potential asset that this kid can become for a bag of shells. There is no doubt in my mind his Asian decent was the primary reason for not really paying attention to his game on an NBA level.
I wouldn't go that far, at least as long as we're talking about his NBA career. There are a lot of good players in the league (or out of the league), especially guards, who don't get a chance because there are other players ahead of making more money.
Look at a guy like Ariel McDonald for example who has been playing great in Europe despite not given a chance by any NBA teams. It just happens sometimes. Or Drazen Petrovic, a 12th man in Portland, goes to Jersey and becomes an all-star.
But if you're talking about him not being recruited by top colleges despite being the high school player of the year in Cali I would agree with you.
