No one is arguing they'd rather Lebron have the highest PER instead of winning a title.

PER has its problems but if a guy has the best PER ever and is beating everyone else by 6 full points he's clearly the best player in the game and its not close, especially when he plays big minutes and is a premier defender on top of that.

A 30 PER is amazing regardless of any other factors, and Lebron is way above that.

He can get even better too. Its not like he has even been exceptionally "hot" this season either.

that is true, but LeBron had the biggest drop off in points since Oscar Robertson (who he happens to get a lot of comparisons too) in the Finals. I mean if he's going to be a beast in the regular season, continue to the Finals or these numbers just don't mean anything...

yes he is having a phenomenal season and I hope he gets all the awards he wants, but there is one thing I'm sure he'd rather have than a regular season MVP award and whatnot. While that isn't the argument, people are just frustrated how this guy is so good, but when it came to the biggest stage... he was no where near the same person. It's especially frustrating how the games were so close in the Finals as well. I remember there were posts about LeBron's woes late game and his struggles in the Finals, and someone was said "OH BUT HIS PER IS OVER 9000!!!", in a mocking way. While that did make me laugh (dbz ftw) no guy with that kind of PER should be that bad in the Finals. He has many years to make up for it though.

All this championship talk makes me wish I could just skip these next few months of my life and pick up at the start of the playoffs. I know this sounds kind of drastic, and a bit childish considering I have no real perspective on something impossible, but I stand by my statement.

I mean yeah he had a bad series.

Bird scored 15 points on 41% shooting in the finals but his team squeaked it out (because they were playing a team with a losing record) so no one remembers it.

I just don't understand the false dichotomy that is being created in this thread by some posters. As if somehow doing good this regular season makes him more likely to do poorly in the playoffs.

No one is trying to imply that a PER title is better than a championship. No one thinks that at all.

We're on a Heat board everyone here would rather win a championship.

Forget championships, PER titles til I die.

This is why we signed LeBron, right?

I guess if we win it would be nice for Bosh to get a Finals MVP or something, but who really cares about getting a big golden microphone?

Posing as a Heat fan with a Knicks avi? Knicks fans are so (Please Use More Appropriate Word).

At least they have Jeremy Lin.
