This is my first post on this forums, but I've been reading this section since the starting of the season following my boy Ricky Rubio doing great on the NBA so far. My fav team on the NBA has been always/is the New Orleans Hornets, but this year I've been following every single game of the Minnesota Timberwolves (cause of Rubio, I'm not gonna lie).

Anyway, I've been enjoying watching the TWolves of Ricky & Love, and I could say they are my 2nd fav team on the NBA right now. Hope they make the playoffs this year, they are looking really good and could be a contender in a few years.

By the other hand, I dedicate many time on doing NBA mixes all around, and my last work is about Ricky Rubio on his first NBA matches. The mix is called "Ricky Rubio. I am ready".

Hope you all enjoy watching it as I did editing and postproducing the project. I would love you to comment, share, rate and subscribe if you like my work!!

That's awesome. Great job.

Didn't understand a word they said.

Thay talk about the "quedadas", gatherings of spanish people that follow fellow spaniards when they go to play in the East, mainly Washington. Thay just talk about what the experience of being in a NBA basketball arena was like and Rubio says that he felt the support of the fans during the Nets game, and that it encouraged him to play better.

That I think i the whole idea of the video. If you guys want some especific part translated just ask.

Yeah, it's just a big group of Spaniards that go out to support Spanish NBA players. Rubio said it was nice to see them and it made him "feel at home".

My favorite part of the video was the guy in the DKV Joventut jersey. He says that you can tell Ricky is enjoying himself on the court again, like he used to in the Joventut days.

Rubio and Irving are battling it out for rookie of the year, to me the wins are going to be the biggest deciding factor along with staying healthy and playing out the entire year.

Here is another comparison, this time with Irving:

http://www.stobblog.com/2012/02/stobs-r ... rison.html

How do you guys think Rubio will handle not having K-Love for the 2 games? I am hoping this means more D-Will time, which then means more opportunities for Rubio to D-Will alley oops and that is never a bad thing. I also am hoping for a "Pekovic" style blossoming by D-Will with this opportunity for more minutes with Love out and he earns more time after Love returns with his play here.

Larry Bird talks glowingly about Ricky Rubio in this new B.S. report (with Bill Simmons) (see especially minutes 25:40–26.05 and 27:45–28:50).

I've been listening to Rubio interviews lately and his english has really improved. He doesn't have that small hesitation or uses filler words for what he's' trying to say like "emmm" or "hmmm". I guess he's been hanging around the team a lot and sharpening the dialect.

Hey all, *waves*. Off-board interloper here.

Figured I'd come lop praise onto Rubio. He's been looking really good. About as expected, he's got the whole "young Jason Kidd with a 3ball and FT shooting" thing going on, and from a 21 year-old (experienced overseas or not), that's absolutely remarkable. He's got all the time in the world to learn how to finish at the rim and hit long 2s, because man, that passing... That kind of vision is a rare thing, and he's using it well. Plus, it doesn't hurt that he's leading the league in SPG, which is kind of neat.

Anyway, wanted to say that I hope he has a long, successful and thoroughly entertaining career. Fun player to watch!

I think he has actually been pretty good at finishing at the rim. Definitely not elite because he gets blocked a bit too much, and sometimes he throws it up there like he wants to hurt the backboard, badly, but he usually converts or gets the foul.

Id call his shot inconsistent. When he is on, he can definitely hit that outside shot, but when its off, oh boy. Seems to go game by game. Hopefully he puts it together eventually.

FWIW, he's been ~ 5% below positional average for PGs at the rim. Not getting a terribly large amount of support in terms of passes leading to those buckets, though, so to some extent, that's holding him back.

He is 21, though, as I said. He's got the size, he just needs to adjust a little bit and we'll see. It's honestly the last thing anyone should be worrying about, right, I mean Kidd established a long career as a perennial All-Star with similar struggles and was still able to impact a team positively with his passing and defense. And Ricky is showing signs of a 3 a lot earlier than did Kidd, the same with his FT shooting. Kidd was ~26 and 5 or 6 years into his career before he finally turned into an 80% FT shooter and didn't shoot as well from 3 as has Ricky so far in his rookie season.

He's already really good and he's going to get better, which is properly exciting. Love new playmaking talent almost as much as post talent!

EDIT: Meh, I shouldn't have even mentioned the finishing thing; this is about Rubio being awesome and only 21, not about him struggling a little bit as a finisher in his rookie season.

Point: Remarkable vision and passing!
Point: Sticky friggin' hands!
Point: Rookie contract awesomeness

Enjoy!

He needs to hit the weight room and get a little stronger so he can finish at the rim harder instead of settling for fadeaways. But that will come with time.

21, and like I said, he's roughly where Kidd was 5, 6 years into his career. I'd be pretty happy if I were a Minny fan... :D

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm VERY happy. I'm just pointing out an area for him to work on (as if he doesn't already know that). And like I said, his body will fill out with time. I'm not concerned at all.

Less worried about YOU, lup, I just didn't wanna accidentally troll the board while I was trying to say something nice about the rook, heh.

Those numbers don't really look at help defense all that much. It's possession-based, is Synergy, so all it's looking at are plays in which he was tracked. It records him as one of the 20 best in the league at isolation defense and then it's looking almost exclusively at stuff like PnRs (the defense of which is reliant upon other players and coaching), spot-up situations and other off-ball action. And post-ups, etc, but you'll notice the only plays where there is any kind of legitimate sample size are isos, PnR and spot-ups.

You're almost never going to defend spot-ups well, PnR is EXTREMELY hard to defend well, which is why the play has been around for like 7 decades and he's murdering it in isolation sets. Only so much else you can ask for him, right?

FWIW, his steals are mostly classified as no-play or transition, neither category of which is shown in that image. :)

EDIT: Oh, and iso, but we knew that.
