I still think Ellis can be had, and that we have the assets to get him. He has been mentioned numerous times in terms of being on the possible trading block. Curry and Ellis eat up some of each other's numbers. We have relationships with their FO. If they keep up with this bad record, I wouldn't be shocked if they made a move. Everyone knows they are looking for a big man, so if we can either involve a third team to give them that, or if they are willing to maybe get a more legit "SG" type player to complement Curry (JJ or JRich), with us agreeing to take back Beidrins' contract, I think they might bite. Something like JRich + Jameer + Ryan (unfortunately we might have to part with him to get it done) for Monta + Biedrins. I wonder if they might want to replace Lee with Ryan (who prob won't get quite Lee's contract next year). Maybe we could add Hedo for Lee into that mix, so then we still have a very formidable front line in Dwight + Lee, because if Baby is going to be getting the majority of minutes if we have to trade Ryan, that's a severe lack of offense at the 4-spot. Lee can put up similar numbers to Ryan. This trade at least gives Golden State some cap-room where they could try to make a splash in Summer 2013, of getting another all-star or two to team with Curry, because new management in certainly looking to do just that.

Here is a little inside story I just got.

For those who don't know, I sit low enough to hear and see all of the players interactions. Well, last night I didn't go to the game but my friend who we share seats with did. He is friends with some people, who know some people. Anyway, he and Jack (he is high up, and I'll name protect him in case he didn't want his name out) were in the Club at the Arena, when Dwight's bodyguard came walking in. They know eachother from here and there and started to talk a little bit. Obviously the Dwight staying/going came up and the Bodyguard said flat out "don't believe everything you hear, Dwight wants to stay, he really does." So they countered with well, why doesn't he just say so and whats the deal, etc? Again the bodyguard said he wanted to stay but there were some things that have started to get Dwight mad. He spelled it all out:

Over the summer, prior to Dwight asking for the trade, he flew up to Grand Rapids to meet with DeVos about how he felt. He also had a few minor (I see them as immature but subtle) demands. 1- he wanted Deron Williams and/or Stephen Jackson/Monta Ellis (everyone knows this). 2- he wanted his personal trainer to be allowed to travel with the team and himself. This is something that DeVos, for whatever reason denied him of. Then Dwight said he wanted to change some small tedious stuff, like when he got flown to the All Star Game last year, the Magic flew him on their sponsor airline; Air Tran or Jet Blue, instead of on a Jet like the rest of the All Stars got. He said he wanted to be treated like all of the other "Stars" in the league pretty much.

So, my friend and *Jack, (much like all of you now) said minus Williams/Jackson/Ellis, that sounded dumb and easily attainable. The bodyguard stated again that if the Magic got another any all-star style player and some things changed that Dwight would stay. *Jack is personal friends with DeVos, who was at the game last night, and asked if he could share this little story. The Bodyguard said "you can tell anybody you would like." So, *Jack went straight to DeVos himself at the game and started telling him what he had just heard. DeVos nodded the entire time and said that was an accurate story.

So there you have it, straight from both sides.

So that's what really happened during the summer? Give this guy his own private jet for himself and his trainer for all games! Geez

lol I had to read this again just to believe it... Christ, give Dwight his own space shuttle for all I care, as long as it makes him stay.

I still feel like we have a slight chance at landing Ellis sometime after March 1st and before the trade deadline IF we can find a 3rd team.

Same here. He's attainable if the Magic can put together a great return. I personally think any combo of JJ, Jameer, Ryan, J-Rich, and Baby in exchange for Monta and their fillers is a deal they'd warm up to. Certainly helps if we had a third team. At the beginning of the season, the Jazz were shopping Al Jefferson and Millsap to make room for Kanter and Favors. I figured they would have been a great trade partner to have them send Jefferson to GSW and we send our players to the Jazz. But the Jazz are playing very well, I doubt they'd be interested in moving Jefferson.

So I guess that's the "something happened over the summer." I hope we don't lose Dwight over a plane ride and personal trainer.

I knew that Dwight threw out those trade demands as more revenge to push the Magic to make changes. He really wants to stay but is being more of a child to get his ways first. He will wait until the end to re-sign.

let's not get ahead of ourselves now. The trade demand still stands and we have yet to hear otherwise.

That's an inspiration story, gives us some hope that these things can be dealt with.

Don't know how the salaries look, but, would everyone be happy with this:

Magic Trade:
Jameer Nelson
Jason Richardson
Ryan Anderson
Daniel Orton
Quentin Richardson

Magic Receive:
Monta Ellis
Andris Biedrins
Filler

Warriors Trade:
Monta Ellis
Andris Biedrins
Filler

Warriors Receive:
Jason Richardson
JJ Redick
Chris Kaman

Hornets Trade:
Chris Kaman

Hornets Receive:
Jameer Nelson
Ryan Anderson
Daniel Orton

The Magic get their second star while also getting their backup Center.

The Warriors get a guy they were rumored to be interested earlier this year who could be a good player next to Curry in J-Rich. along with a nice Center which they've been looking for in Kaman. and, a nice role player that does a lot of the little things and plays his role well in Q. and, we take back a bad contract for them in Biedrins.

The Hornets get a solid starting PG in Jameer next to Gordon. along with what could be a potential all-star in Ryan Anderson, and, could be a good fit with Eric Gordon, that could be a nice 1-2 punch. and, a young Center that may be a good enough backup Center for a rebuilding team.

Might need to add some picks, and, again I don't exactly know if the salaries match, but, this would be a starting point... this is also my first trade scenario. :D

Edit: There, happy guys?

That's a bit high a price for Orlando, J-Rich, Nelson, JJ, and Ryno for Ellis? Taking on Biedrins is a favor to GSW. Salaries work taking one of either J-Rich/JJ/Nelson out. I'd probably try to keep JJ, since we could run Ellis at point, JJ at the 2, and bring Wafer off the bench. We would need a PF to backup Davis.

Yet ANOTHER Net's guy goes down with a serious foot injury? WTF? Do they have the worst training staff in the league or something? Maybe we should show Dwight all of this and ask him if he wants to have some broken feet next year? ;)

What if Deron were to go down sometime soon with something similar....I wonder if that would affect anything. I'm not wishing anything upon him, just curious as to how that might affect any dynamic of the situation.

Getting Ellis would be great, but Otis also shouldn't give up everything we have ..

I hope Otis tries to hold on to Ryan as long as possible. If we're taking back Biedrins, Otis should take Ryan out of the deal.

If "filler" includes Dorell Wright, I might consider it....but Warriors and Hornets get the best of that deal. I don't think we have to give up THAT much. Also, Jarrett Jack is a better PG than Jameer, so I think he would play more as a 6th man on that team (which they need actually). I don't think the Warriors need both JRich and JJ when they have Klay already.

I just don't see how we could get him without giving up so much. and, I'd rather give up half the team to keep Dwight around than to lose Dwight and start all over. plus, imo Ryno and JJ would really be the only 2 we miss. Ellis is better than J-Rich and Meer combined, and, he'd take both of their roles, pretty much just score and set some teammates up.

It also opens up time for Wafer and Liggins. which could backfire, but, it could also turn out great for us.
