Arsenal have signed 17 year old Thomas Eifeld from Borussia Dortmund. Not exactly the marquee signing we were hoping for, but can't hurt I guess.

Looks like Jack Wilshere's set-back isn't as bad as first feared, could be back training in a few days.

Yeah, attacking midfielder. Worth a punt.

Transfer deadline is less than 24 hours away. Looks doubtful of any big moves for us though.

Same injury had him out for all of last season. Tough luck for the kid.

Backe shoots down talk of extended loan for Henry

While Thierry Henry’s loan stint has been a success for his old club Arsenal, Red Bulls head coach Hans Backe confirmed Thursday that his striker’s place will be back with New York next week.

Henry, whose two goals in six appearances has helped spur a 4-1-1 run from the Gunners, is expected to join his MLS mates in Arizona next week for the upcoming leg of the club’s preseason training. The Red Bulls are currently in Mexico and are coming off a 2-0 win over FC Dallas on Wednesday in their first friendly action of the new year.

“He will be back here in New York [as of] when I talked with him a couple days ago,” Backe told reports in a conference call on Thursday. “February 17, in between our two camps.”

Henry’s presence with his old club has been as much about his on the field production as it has been about his veteran leadership. Arsenal have underachieved this year and Henry’s arrival has coincided with a strong run that now sees the club just three points off a top-four standing in the English Premier League.

i liked him as extra attacking help, and as a buffer between chamakh and an actual soccer field.

but, i'm kind of glad to see the red bulls not just give in and let the big name player do whatever they want. that kind of stuff isn't good for mls overall.

I really wish there was a Tuesday Club podcast coming today. Would have been hilarious to hear Davies rip apart that performance, he's always best when still angry.

Everyone knows Arsenal is the best place for development 8-)

I believe a deal is in place for Arsenal to acquire Madrid's youth team star Jose Rodriguez Martinez. If all goes to plan, he's supposed to be a first team player by his third year there.

Fairly boring mix here but if you look examine it, you'll get a good idea of the maturity of his game. Also, he works hard to win the ball back, reminds me of Di Maria that way.

Rumors swirling around that they also inquired after Albiol. Not sure how that would play out all things considered.

That was a worse a performance than the 8-2 at Old Trafford, really. Even Vermaelan sucked.

This is going to sound odd coming from a Tottenham fan, but i've been listening to that Tuesday Club podcast and those guys are absolutely hilarious.

Listen to this week's if you haven't already. I died laughing. Especially the bit about getting Wenger, van Persie, Wilshere, and AOC in the car, and telling Vermaelen where they're going.

I just finished listening to it, and it was awesome. I'd probably stick Szczesney, Ramsey, Koscielny and Coquelin in that Fiesta too.

They certainly do have a point about him though, he'd be killer for a team like Sunderland that put men behind the ball and try to hit on the break. But, for a possession based team like us he's poor, just lacks the intelligence in his runs.

Probably he is not coming back. He was in last year of his contract. Did some great things for Arsenal but he was really inconsistent and awful this year.
