2 questions:
1. Can the red sox trade Ortiz Right now?
2. Does anyone know how EE is doing in LF?

While I will admit that just going off UZR is a very bad idea when the numbers back up observation its hard to argue with them.
Once Anthony Gose is up we'll be able to put 6 guys in the infield and let Gose play all three outfield positions at once, it's going to be awesome.
Nice, but I see Anthony Gose as a poor mans Alex Rios.
not really, I still think the juan pierre with a cannon arm is still the best comp right now. rios had a better bat at the same point in development

Juan Pierre has 16 career home runs in over 1750 games, Gose hit 16 home runs last year alone.

sure, it's easy to say the last year was the new norm, but the preceding years give me reason for pause. let him repeat similar HR production and it gains more traction.
also, you are comparing major league career totals vs. 1 season of minor league baseball...

The year before, with his old "pound it into the ground" swing, he still managed 4 more home runs than Juan Pierre's highest HR total throughout his 11-year career.
There can be little doubt that Gose has significantly more pop than Juan Pierre. It's not even close.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

Re: 2012 Jays Off Season Discussion Thread
again, he's still in the minors. if he can hit 15+ a year then he's looking more like an Andy Van Slyke with more speed and a better arm. not alex rios or juan pierre... but, until he gets a chance in the majors, it's all opinion anyways.

BTW, MLB offseason is officially over:
http://seattle.sbnation.com/seattle-mar ... ime-photos
Of course everyone else has to wait a week, but pitchers and catchers reported yesterday and they're on the field today. And thank god, 'cause this one felt like it took forever.

Why don't the Jays go after Burnett, with the Yankees looking to eat a large part of the contract, could be usefull here. Unless the Yanks don't want to trade in the division.

Re: 2012 Jays Off Season Discussion Thread
I wonder if we can pry Michael Taylor from the A's and take him back. I really think he has star potential and I wasn't happy that we traded him for Brett Wallace(which actually was good as we got Gose).
Speaking of Houston, I'm wondering what they would want for J.A. Happ. He would be an ok #3-5 starter, depending on how he fairs in the the Al East and if he has a bounce back season this year.

Michael Taylor's stock is at an all-time low right now. He does have some power, but we have to remember that he did play in the PCL last year, and his numbers weren't that impressive in there as well at age 26.

Still a truly terrible comparison for Gose. Really almost no similarities between them.
Marquis Grissom with worse contact skills? I'd buy that.

**** your asterisk.
