13 points (4/10 2pt fg, 5/8 FT), 14 boards, 4 blocks.

His second last board, an O board, was a man's rebound in heavy traffic.

This was a VTB league game, good opponent, opposing C a bit of a sloth but big, a space eater. So it's not like dunking over 6'8 centers in a Lithuanian league game

No he had a couple of threes at the end to help make things look closer than they really were.

Valanciunas: 13 PTS, 14 REB (6 OFF), 4 BLK, 3 TO, 4 PF. 4/10 FG and 5/8 FT.
Montiejunas: 10 PTS, 9 REB, 2 STL, 3 TO, 4 PF. 2/9 FG (2/2 3PT) and 4/4 FT.

Stats look okay.

The thing with Montiejunas is that he wasn't that impactful when the game was really up for grabs.

Things I liked about Jonas. Was 1-2 from 12 feet out, showing a nice touch. This will be a part of his game that will really set him apart from a lot of NBA centers. Had nice footwork in the post even when he didn't finish, work in progress there but I'd rather see good footwork against a seven footer than see bad footwork and a good finish over a smaller C. He is an under-rated passer, he had some very nice boards, and got his hands on a couple more than the 6 offensive boards he was credited for, keeping the ball alive for teammates to get the rebound.

Bad things. Couple of stupid fouls (also got a lame call against him that would likely not have been called by an NBA ref). Lost focus on offence a couple of times and seemed to drift, was late with a few closeouts, but finished more strongly in that area.

Looks good. Should look even better and more fluid once he adds some weight.

He's starting to use more ball fakes, and his footwork in the post is looking better even when he doesn't finish.

"He's starting to use more ball fakes"

yeah the fact he's been given permission to shoot from outside has set this up...I wonder how often he gets his man off his feet, any time he does its over.

He also did this weird thing where he upfaked, drible drove, then turned it into a post up...reminded me of 1 on 1 games against my taller brother lol.

His pump fake and drive looks so predictable (Still not as laughably bad as Bargs), but its still deadly going 1 on 1. VAls jump form is weird, you never know he pump fakes or really shoots, he usually hesitates though. When he masters his mid range jumper, it will be over, with Bargs creating some space, he will kill everybody.
He usually can beat his man even without a fake, that move is unstoppable. I think first Lithuania-Russia game illustrates it. Jonas scored easy first points on Russian C, Blatt called a TO, instantly set campers to triple help D, hack Jonas when he does that move.

I like the looks of his first step. This guy could be a better offensive prospect than most people are expecting.

I'm glad he won't be forced into that role like Bosh was though.

It's going to be very interesting to see how he looks defensively/how long he can stay on the floor as a rookie in Casey's system. I'm going to guess that Casey will encourage him to play hard every minute and not worry about fouls (get the rebounder/shotblocker/finisher role card). guys are going to go right at him so it's going to be a good test of his man D, day in and day out.

AB able to hold his position pretty well after a couple of seasons. could JV come in and play like a veteran big (defensively) from day 1?
