Wall has 10 & 15 ast easily in the past 2 games. When the Miami game started, we ran some plays that Ive never seen us run. A bunch of pics inside the line and short curls off of eachother like the Jazz old system. We ran more pick & rolls or high screens in that game and we ran a million of them last night against Detroit with our O lookin more explosive then ever and Wall living in the paint while finding guys.
Not only that but look at McGee. I use to always complain about how the system allowed for McGee to never even set the pick. He always leaves like a foot before Wall gets there and never touches the guy he's trying to pick. I always complained how we never do it like the other teams. Like how we use to do it with Wood & Gil here. Wood would stay there all day until Gil was past him and then he follows.
Now watch McGee. He stayed there the whole time and sometimes even reset, Wall would go, and then McGee would follow. The funny thing is that McGee use to always leave early because he was more worried about getting the pass back for the easy score than he was freeing Wall up but what he's now realizing is that if he frees up Wall then it forces the D to overplay him and McGee is now wide open for lobs or easy shots.
McGee is also the last few games playing big & strong again like he did early in the year. More close shots, more deeper post position, and actually leaning towards guys or overpowering them some. Im telling you that Wall can average 10apg even with these guys if we run this system. Now though we have to figure a way to get his scoring full time with it. We can run it every play just about and he should dominate like the other top PG's. He'll get in the lane for a shot or will find a guy.
Rewatch the games, it looks night & day now. We might still some more wins like that and its not just McGee. Its the same with all the other bigs. I could see JV doing more scoring off the P & R now. Why havent we been doing this? I hate Flip. I think someone said something to convince Witt to change things up but this is a different Offense and I get the feeling that theyre going to steadily still add more & more stuff like this.
The only thing now is that Wall has to get use to this new style. He's got alot of turnovers since but he'll cut down on that the more & more he does it. He's just not use to it and also the guys around him arent but that will change game by game and the turnovers will get lower & lower while his assist will go up & up. You can tell he's excited by it and the team around him too. He'll put up numbers and look in control of these games.
Then like I said, they are mixing it up with the curls which now gets a guy like NY more often instead of running those every single play and they are using different kinda curls now also. They are also doing more team passing instead of letting the PG do everything. They are running plays with curls & screens off the ball. Double curls, passes, etc. Looks good so far
