Re: After Ricky Rubio, Jonas Valanciunas=International Super
TOs doesnt really bothers me. I dont think its a big problem actually. There are 2 main mistakes he does.
1. Offensive fouls...
2. Sometimes he just runs straight into the defense, gets caught, then desperately tries to pass out, and losses the ball. Thats a TOs we talking about, he needs to fix that...

But I think that guys like Bogdanovic, Preldzic, Milan Macvan, Kostas Sloukas, and Kostas Papanikoloau should also be discussed. They all have some definite potential to become very good players. Shengelia and Aldemir also have potential. Joel Freeland is also a pretty solid player. Kyle Singler is doing a decent job also.
And maybe even someone like Nick Calathes. He's not a very good player in the Euroleague, but in all honesty, neither were Rubio, Lawson, and Jennings, and look what they are doing in the NBA. Point guards seem to really increase their stats by a lot, going from the Euroleague to the NBA. So, he might be another case like that, you never know.
And there are also some of those young players that didn't get drafted by the NBA to keep an eye on. Guys like Vorontsevich, Schved, Aradori, and Shermadini are already quite good players.
Out of all the names you mentioned i'd only bet for Freeland, Bogdanovic, Calathes and Shved to make a significant impact in the NBA one day. Preldzic is a great talent but i'm not sure his playing style can translate well there, and i haven't watched enough of Aldemir yet to form an opinion.
And of course, you forgot Mirotic.

To a certain extent. If he lacked athleticism but had legit size for his position like Mirotic i could agree but that's not the case.
If you want to try to measure the elements of basketball that are supposedly unmeasurable, spend a game just watching Marc Gasol.

I wouldn't call any of them "elite" prospects by European standards. That's a definite exaggeration.

When you are comparing Mirotic to Macvan, you have to also factor in how soft Mirotic is and how physical Macvan is. Also, Macvan isn't undersized for his position. Take a look at NBA power forwards around the whole league. Many of them are smaller than Macvan.

Why? They were the best Europe had to offer last year, all 3 had lottery potential imo, Jonas made it to the top 5, Moti was also considered a lottery pick for a long time, and well, Mirotic has great potential as well. Tell me prospects that was considered better at the time they were drafted, and please, don't tell Dirk, or even Parker.
Sabonis obviously, but it's really rare the US media considers a euro prospect as can't miss. Part of it is because they're biased toward american prospects, obviously, despite the fact that euro prospects has just as good of a chance to pan out, if i remember correctly about that article.

To me, elite implies something that is beyond the level of those players. I cannot consider any of those three as "elite". Maybe from the NBA POV they are, since they were first round draft picks.

Not the next Tim Duncan, but certainly an elite prospect.
I clearly put him in a level above Mačvan and Mirotic (from a NBA perspective).

Ohh, jelous serb's comment. Don't worry, his carreer will be better than all current serbian centers combined.

Yeah, Gortat is far from a scrub. He can put up 20-10 on any given night.

I'd be more than happy if he turned into Gortat, that guys is a beast. If this kid can have close to the impact that Rubio has had, the Raptors will be a playoff team.
