JR is just a better version of Von Wafer, a definite asset to this team.

nice. Aquire jr then trade jj and nelson to phx for nash making JR our 6th man and ball handler off the bench. I would feel confident going into the playoffs with nash and jr added to our roster.

Adding J.R. Smith would be crazy. We would have four shooting guards on the roster, all deserving playing time (though Von Wafer has the weakest case). I'm all for it from a talent perspective, because frankly he'd have a great shot at being our best shooting guard, and if we are hell bent on not starting Redick than I'd rather have J.R. Smith starting over JRich. Flip JRich for a PG, like Mo Williams or something, and I'm a happy camper and would feel like we've improved our roster. Hell, I think after thinking about it if we can add him for ~$5 million we should do it.

Or Ellis (as our PG) ;) I hear that Klay guy is making some strides in GS... making it easier for Ellis to be expendable

Adding Jr smith doesnt make sense.
With the new rules regarding the luxury tax, I cant imagine us spending about 15-20 million to get Jr smith when we already have Jrich, redick and wafer.

If it does go dwon than it certainly wont be the last move this year(a dwight trade not included).

Sorry I am of the school where if you can acquire a more talented player you do it. Then you figure out how to make room for him later. And please for the love of god stop comparing Von Wafer to JR Smith. This is a player that is capable of dropping 40 points on a given night. And Wafer has had just as many problems as Smith. The kid would come in and instantly be the 3rd best player after Howard and Anderson. You make room for him

If Stan really believes what he's been saying himself then J.R is exactly what he says that we lack...that 1on1 guy.....that Iso guy....the guy you can give the ball and then he can create.....J.R has that and then some imo....Although the man comes with some baggage for sure...but we took on Arenas and his issues so J.R might not be that much of a stretch.....

Adding J.R would mean one of our shooting guards is on their way out....Should be J-Rich....he has played well recently but if I had to choose between J.R and J-Rich then i'm going younger and more explosive....Package J-Rich and Ryan(it hurts me to type that) to get someone...maybe try to add Duhon lol...Then the lineup that i would roll with would be

Nelson/Ish/JJ
J.R Smith/JJ
Hedo/Q/Clark
Harper/Baby/Clark
Dwight/Clark/Backup

Much rather have Harper Start than Baby just because i believe Baby and Dwight together does not work well....No Spacing....Their both Ball stoppers....Harper in at the 4 can assume the Ryan/Shard role....Stay at the Perimeter create the space Dwight needs and if he kicks it out shoot it.....Opens up more time for Clark to play and Ish can be our push the pace PG for a different look off the bench.......

We would have everything we need....The defense would still be solid....With J.R we still have someone who can hit the spot up 3 but he can attack and finish with the best of them....He can create shots for himself and others..Harper can be our Stretch 4 option since his skills almost mirrors Rashard's.......So basically we would have a lot more options offensively and could mix it up if SVG utilizes him correctly.....

There are downsides but i think the potential outweighs it imho

Sounds like Knicks are option one with Clips/Lakers option 2

We have no one on our team that comes close to Smith's ability to not only get to the rim, but finish consistantly. He would improve our team a lot.

What do you guys honestly think it would take to get Nash? Let's just say JJ is for sure in the package & I def wouldn't want to give up JJ & Ryno, so what else could the Suns possibly want from us to rebuild with?

I think Nash would have to come out and say he WANTS to be traded to the Magic, & I honestly can't see him doin that. :(

I think wafer is pretty solid on the getting to the rim thing, I think best move would be if JR could be had is to trade JJ for a pg

A wing rotation of hedo, Jrich, jr, and wafer would be pretty fantastic offensively. JJ would be missed but I'd prefer to have the driving abilities of jr and wafer.

His trade value is still quite high I assume. Simmons had him 35th on his trade value rankings last season. I expect his value has dipped slightly due to him being on the down slide of his career, and at 38 he isn't going to be a long term investment.

Looking at this article Simmons says that 28-49 on his trade value rankings are worth ¢.50, or his "Borderline All-Stars, former All-Stars, and up-and-comers" value.

So we'd need to put together some sort of package around that value. Anderson is the only player we have that fits that bill, and I'm not sure I want to trade him for Nash. Nelson, Hedo and JRich have been in this category before but are currently not playing near there. Maybe the Suns bite on them giving them some of their old production and pull the trigger as a favor to Nash?
