How important will homecourt be?

Post#1 » by Heat fan06 » Tue Feb 14, 2012 5:35 pm

How key will it be this year? Going on the road in Chicago and maybe Oklahoma back to back will be tough but how much does it matter? Do you have the thought that the best team wins homecourt or not?

I wouldn't say home court is crucial for us, but it is important. role players tend to do better at home, and in a close game Vs the Bulls a couple of Korver / Miller 3's can make the difference between a L and a W.

We can still take a series without HCA, but it will be harder.

Not THAT important, I'm confident Heat can beat any team without home court advantage but it'd still be nice to have.

To me HCA is overrated amongst top teams as we've seen previous years, however there are crucial times where it helps.

It'd be nice to have. It's especially important for those 3rd and 4th quarters where the crowd starts to get really into it and where we traditionally have had some letdown issues. Having the crowd rooting for the other side doesn't help in those scenarios.

Well it wasn't last year vs Chicago as we won twice there.

It's nice to have, but not that important. Being #1/2 seen might not be such a good deal, since you almost always catch a streaking team. Those 7th and 8th seeds can sometimes be a pain. Regardless, you can't expect to win a championship if you can't beat the best teams. So we'll beat anyone anywhere. Whatever it takes. PEACE.

I don't think its that important to this team, they didn't have it against the Bulls last year and made it happen. This team experiences hectic rowdy crowds almost every night so the playoffs shouldn't be much different. This team can step it up at any moment in any arena, biggest thing to this team should be health.

Well, this team likes to play on the road. They have had some good victories on the road even in playoff time.

The thing is, and I don't even want to bring it up again, is that even on their home floor they can play like crap and let the unexpected happen on the biggest stage.

Home cooking will probably be more vital to have that the actual home court lol.

The thing is, the role players play a lot better at home too. And for that reason, I'd like them to have homecourt. But it isn't a need. This team can win anytime it wants UNLESS they defeat THEMSELVES.

Now opponent wise, it depends because some teams just naturally flourish at home and barely lose. Against them, it would be ideal to have HCA. Thunder's homecourt would break our spirit in a 4th quarter lol. Also I'd rather have Wade play more at home against Chicago than IN Chicago.

To me, it's not THAT important, but it is good for the player's morale with all the cheering over big plays, ESPECIALLY down the stretch. However, if we go to the Finals, and we end up playing OKC, it would definitely be better for us to have HCA.

IMO only time home court really matters is game 7s.

Granted we've lost 3 Knicks series in elimination games(98,99,00) and in ECFSs to Pistons in 2005.

Last season we beat the Sixers in Philly once, Celtics in Boston once, Bulls in Chicago twice and in Dallas once.

I'd still prefer HCA, but we can win a title without it if we play to our potential.

No home court vs Bulls but win, home court against Mavs but lose.

With this team home court doesn't really matter. Home court usually matters a lot for role players and bench guys. The thing is this team has 3 all-stars 2 of which is all nba. As long as they don't have a mental breakdown (or some big time injury) this year they should be playing for it all again in June.

TO BE COMPLETELY HONEST, I rather us not have HCA in the ECF/Finals.

Of course there's no question you prefer to play at home, but I just feel this team's killer instinct is far deadlier when playing in the road as opposed at home.

Any edge you can grab makes sense if your goal is a title. Why lose sight of that?

I think it won't much matter prior to the ECFs though, and then only if they face the Bulls. Beyond that, they're looking for it in the Finals primarily.

Speaking of which... would you prefer a MIA/DAL rematch or a showdown between Lebron and Durant?

I'd honestly like a 3rd and final rematch of Heat/Mavs.

Getting to the playoffs healthy and rested with an easy first round matchup will be a lot more important. You're looking at facing anyone from the Pacers, Knicks, and Celtics in the first round right now.

I kind of like not having home court in the big series because if you steal one of those first two games you get all of the momentum. And if you win them both, it's pretty much over. The Dallas series we played at home, and we lost that. So going on the road is fine.

When you have 3 superstars, things like homecourt doesn't really matter because those guys are bringing it no matter where they are playing.
