Re: Concerned About Amare
His offense isn't my concern, but his lack of defense literally negates his offensive production.
Amar'e used to be a good weak side defender, he isn't even doing that.
I'd welcome the right trade for him, I really doubt he improves to being serviceable on defense.

Amare really needs to learn post moves. He just tries to run through people.

decline or in the transition stage of adapting to what he can do
amar'e is lucky he developed a mid range game and post moves after his first surgery instead of relying on lob passes(ala griffin)
it's like a pitcher who used to throw 96 mph gas but now throws 93 mph, he has to adapt to what they can now do.
i'm sure amar'e will find a way to be effective
Since when did he develop post moves?

20 and 9 after a rough week is impressive. He looked good in vs. Chicago and vs. Boston. Then tragic hits. Comes back. 20 & 9. The paint is also a little crowded too. Tyson has to space out when Stat has the ball. The crash once the shot is up.

Re: Concerned About Amare
How about some of you people give Amar'e a break? It's only been one damn game since losing a key love of his life... His older brother. An older brother who he not only loved, but also looked up to as a kid growing up.
Yes, he hasn't played like the Stoudemire of years past this season, and yes, his shooting wasn't te greatest tonight, but he still put up 21 points and 9 boards during his first game back. 5 of Jeremy Lin's assists tonight were assists to Amar'e Stoudemire. Amar'e also put up 6 points and 5 boards during the 4th quarter tonight!

Everyone notices him not dunking. But no one talks about how hard he is breathing. His conditioning is not there yet.

Never underestimate the strength of knowledge.
Bring back the physical game and send the softies home.

he kills us on defense. no one can even deny that. teams run pick and rolls at him because they know there's an easy bucket to be had doing that. won't close out on shooters. never makes a good defensive play.
is his production on offense really outweighing what he does on defense? to me tyson looks like nearly as effective a roll man. we can live without stoudemire's jump shooting and isolating from the elbow.

Here it is guys: we can't win with him on this team. Accept the fact that he's been all talk this season, has barely contributed in a positive manner (if at all), and we're going to need to get rid of him to improve as a team.
Look you hate STAT. And even though it annoys me you see no good in him whatsoever (bet you never supported him when he had great days with us last year) I respect your opinon. But what really annoys me is that you rip the guy in other teams forums. Waving that banner you have like its national flag at the world cup. Its embarassing.
I get ripping a guy for his attitude but you just **** on him anytime there's a bad game. Amare's maybe on a decline but it is not steep and with Tyson and Melo and Lin here. It bought him years.
But you have your opinion. I just think bashing a good representative of this team in other teams boards is subpar fandom.
Your serve.

Amare is not used to play with a real center, not sure he will figure it out, or not... I like Amare a lot, but i think the Knicks team would be so much better with someone like David West instead of Amare. A line up of: Lin, Shumpert, Carmelo, West, Tyson is more of a team than what we have. Actually it would be a great team.

i'm more concerned with amare getting blocked over and over than laying it up instead of dunking. a few years ago, there's no way that amir johnson outjumps amare stoudemire, much less do it multiple times in the same possession.

i was really on the 'amare just needs a PG' bandwagon but after watching that clip of him dunking on the clippers its clear hes really lost a step it almost looks like another player, i cant remember him once exploding to the basket like that all year... i think were just the boiling frog i just realized how hot the water is

Re: Concerned About Amare
The offensive side of his game has been awful, but that's not even the biggest concern.
Defensively he's not even trying. I'm sorry, but if you watch this game over, you will see him just give up on plays as soon as someone has a step on him. That's not something that will improve with conditioning.
Additionally, you'll notice that the Knicks, for the first time in several games, had lapses where guys were just getting to the rim at will. Watch those plays over, and you'll see Amar'e missing an assignment/rotation the majority of the time.
It's incredibly frustrating to watch.

I like Amar'e at about $10 mil a year. Love the man, but his game is missing.

Another thing as some1 mentioned he really couldnt do as much basketball play as he wanted to during the offseason due to the back inury...All this talks of his decline are premature.. I think its more of the extra weight, recovering from the back injury, and getting his legs under him...His back seems to have healed, before last week he was getting his legs back, I dont know what he can do about the weight this season....I just the talks of his Demise are another over-reaction of the Board.

Great player with in the right system, and that system is not we we NEED right to win. Amare and Tyson CAN NOT play together, and i think its time we trade amare for players that fit our system. We don't need a Super Star, players like P. Gasol, Brandon Bass, David West, Taj Gibson would make this team scary. I am sure their is more PF who are just a better fit for this team.
