That Hoopsworld article is nothing but speculation, no sources or anything. Lets' not get ahead of ourselves.

Hopefully JRich keeps playing well and gets his value high so we can ship his ass outa here. I would really prefer to keep JJ. Plus, doesn't Nash expire at the end of the year? So if it all doesn't work out Jameer/JRich are off the books. Then we just have to find a way to get rid of Hedo/Baby and we will have a ton of cap room to rebuild.

Imagine, a month from now, a Nash/JR Smith backcourt, with Jrich at the 3, and Hedo off the bench.

We need more talent, and athleticism in our backcourt, we need a REAL pg and a SG who can take people off the dribble.

If we were able to get that, there is little doubt in my mind that we would be contenders.

I'm a big JR Smith fan, wanted him here for a while, actually. The fact that he and Dwight are close is just a bonus, to me.

Didnt JR Smith kill someone in a car crash???

Didn't he also claim to be a member of the kryps???

That's a strange kat for dwight to pal around with

Everybody sees @TheRealJrSmith as instant offense, but he is also one of the elite perimeter defenders in the League.

He retweeted this... Maybe he's gonna be committed to D? He is a very good defender when he try's

my bet is that he goes to the clippers or knicks. he would get a starting role on those teams but if money is most important to him i could see him taking our 5 mil/per. Stan would never play him though

In any trade we make, JJ or JRich would be included .. So JR can certainly have a starting spot if he wants to ..

Stan would play him if he didn't have a choice; JRich & JJ being traded.

true. what i like most about JR is his ball handling skills. duhon wouldn't even have to bring the ball up if jr is in there

Synergy rated Smith as the worst defender in the league last season. I don't think he's that bad but he does seem lazy sometimes and he takes a lot of those bad gambles that Dwyane Wade has made famous.

This would be a purely offensive move. Stop me if you heard this one before, the magic are going after a SG with deep range that used to have crazy hops. Smith shot 39% on 3s and 48% on long 2s, and he can get his shot off on virtually anyone. For comparison JJ is at 43% on 3s and 41% on 2s, Von Wafer is at 40% on 3s and 53% on 2s (FREE VON WAFER) and as a team we are only at 45% on 2s with Dwight and Von the only two above 48%. He can work the PnR pretty well two even though he can't really dribble.

As the only real "free" agent out there, it would be nice to give him a shot. I would just hate for Otis to pay him 4 mil for the rest of the year and then Stan not play him because he's a knucklehead.

No way JR Smith starts over JJ or JRich. Not going to happen. JR Smith will play off the bench this season regardless. Stan won't take a career bench warmer and make him a starter. Especially, someone that plays worse defense than JRich and JJ in a team oriented defensive system. JR Smith won't learn Stans play system in a single season. Especially, since he got stuck on the bench so often in Karls system.

JR Smith would be used to bring scoring with the second unit.

Ya it's gotten pretty out of hand...there's a report on Espn that says Lin has moved from a couch to an apartment. Great story but way over the top

Smith is more proven. Wafer brings about the same game, except he hasn't gotten consistent minutes and has had a journeyman career.

I really wish SVG would play Wafer. I can understand bringing in Q if we're playing Miami or something and we need a bigger more physical SF to match up on defense, but this team's offense stalls in the halfcourt way too much and we could really use Wafer's ability to score in ISOs.

Please tell me you didn't just call JR smith a bench warmer... if he comes, he is easily the starter... Jj and jrich are spot up shooters primarily, and slashers second. Smith can spot up, as well as create for himself

I still cant believe you called him a bench warmer... The only reason he came off the bench for denver its because they had melo and billups dominate the ball so much with the first unit... While hedo and jameer both handle the ball for us, they are nowhere near the level of anthony and billups. Also the nuggets had no scoring from the bench, and needed a perimeter defender in the starting lineup... Since we have jj off the beech as well as jrich in this case there is no need for smiths bench scoring. We also don't have a perimeter defender and we won't be getting one any time soon, so start JR because it makes sense... But then again stan doesn't usually do things that make sense so, I could see him burying smith on the bench for 34 minutes a have and then expecting him to still be hot come 4th quarter

Smith should definitely be starting. If he is starting SG on this team and getting 30+ min he is putting up 20PPG.
