I cant see Detroit sending out Maxiel's expiring to get Blatche

It would have to be

Pistons trade: Gordon+Bynum for Emeka+Crawford
Hornets trade: Jack+Emeka+Ariza+Minny 2012 1st for Lewis+Bynum+Turiaf(exp)
Wiz trade: Lewis+Crawford+Turiaf(exp) for Gordon+Ariza+Jack+Minny 2012 1st

I would send our 2nd rd pick to NO if id have to too.
I would even send the DAL 2nd rdr to DET if we were really getting the MIN unprotected 1st.

Eh, I don't really see any of the teams involved being interested in that. Especially not the Wiz. No reason to take on both Gordon and Ariza, expecially if we're also keeping Blatche.

Since the general consensus is that Young isn't gonig to be resigned, can we please just trade him now while his value is higher and the tank can be preserved? Someone eloquent and concise should email Ted.

+1 Someone that isn't in out long-term plans (at least I don't think he should be) shouldn't be helping us win meaningless games.

Even though I'm not a big NY fan, he did his thing last night. But of course he's going to have a good game once in awhile. He's not going to keep this up. He's inconsistent, and we can't these types of games to hop back on their bandwagon (Crawford included). I know Nick Young will revert to his crazy 1-on-1, overdribbling offense eventually. Hell, it might even happen next games. We need to use games like this to build their trade value. We can't settle.

If McGee's problem all along has been asthma, and THIS is the real McGee that we can expect to see going forward, then I'm not at all interested in trading him unless it's for a high lotto pick (which is unlikely).

I'm also not too interested in trading Young if all we can get is a 2nd rounder (though I would include him as incentive in another deal if necessary).

At this point, I think our best trade option would be to try and dump Blatche in exchange for a better, but more expensive veteran player. Okafor would be perfect.

Blatche + Turiaf + 2nd round pick + cash for Okafor would be a great move at the Trade Deadline. Even if we slip to 5th or so in the draft, we can land Lamb or Barnes. Then add Batum and resign Young and McGee and we could roll with:

PG Wall/Mack
SG Lamb/Young
SF Batum/Singleton
PF Booker/Vesely
C McGee/Okafor

We're still a little weak at PF with two role players best suited as 20 mpg subs, but the rest of the lineup is strong and deep. That's a lot of shooters who can defend at the other end of the court. The shooting from the wings (along with Wall's continued improvement from midrange) would allow us to get away with Vesely's utter lack of offense.

We're all dreaming of Anthony Davis, but the above is a much more likely scenario, particularly if Wittman is going to keep winning games at .400 clip. And I could live with this.

WHY FOR THE WIZ?
1) They get pieces that fit next to Wall. Jack provides a much needed backup PG and shooter who can also play SG next to Wall. Ditto for Ben Gordon.

I'm not sure I agree with the description of our PG situation.
I'm willing to roll with Mack for now.

Would you give up McGee and the pick for Aldridge? Seems pricey but I don't know if Portland would even go for that unless they went in to full-on tank/rebuild mode.

I would not trade the pick before the draft lottery.

I would rather have Davis on a rookie deal because he is likely going to be even better than Aldridge.

I would not give up the top pick for Aldridge. I would keep McGee and any top-3 pick, because I am sure about Davis, Robinson, and the trade value of pick three. Those with McGee are worth more than Aldridge IMO, as good as Aldridge is.

I would give any pick after #1 and Blatche for Aldridge.

Not interested at all in trading the pick before the lottery. And especially the pick AND McGee. It's just a non-starter in my book.

A 12% chance of landing Davis means a 12% at legitimate championship aspirations for years to come. Trading that pick for Aldridge reduces those chances significantly. We might be pretty good, but we wouldn't be championship caliber.

After the lottery it may be a different story. Outside of Davis and Kidd-Gilchrist, I'd probably be willing to trade the pick for a youngish all-star quality player.

I disagree with this assessment. Aldridge was a legit number 1 option on one of the top teams in a loaded west last year. As evidenced yesterday, PDX without LA was old, unskilled, unexplosive, and unathletic. Add LA and PDX could be scary in the playoffs. If Wall continue to play like he's been playing lately I think Wall/LA/FA/McGee can be serious contenders.

I would totally do pick 2-4 + Blatche for Aldridge. But i doubt PDX does that because he's the face of their franchise.

Would it be possible to get Kevin Martin without giving up McGee?

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/21 ... aying_Time

Or is their an incentive that would make it worth giving up McGee? Kevin Martin isn't my first choice for SG, but he would give the Wizards a solid starter on a reasonable deal.

TGW had an interesting proposal he posted on the Trade Board:

Nick Young to LA
Josh McRoberts, Kapono, LAL 1st to WAS

Frankly, I'd do that without the 1st. McRoberts would be a real good fit on this club as a big man who can shoot. If nothing else, he's a competent big man on a reasonable contract so he's a trade commodity going forward (if we end up with a PF in the draft).

I think the only way the Wizards get a 1st for Nick Young is if they take on a bad contract in return, or maybe some team convinces themselves a Young/Crawford combo is worth a late 1st.

Based on HOU's roster, I think McGee would have to be part of the package. But we could get back guys like Patterson and Budinger to make it worth it. The bigger problem would be making the cap numbers work without including Lewis (who I don't think HOU would want). Would probably have to be a 3-way IMO.

A guy that we could REALLY use and could possibly come cheap is Irsan Ilyasova. He's the cheaper, more affordable version of Ryan Anderson, except he's not as efficient. However, he rebounds the basketball much better than Anderson (12 rebs per 36) and he blocks more shots (1.1 per 36).

He could be had for pretty much nothing and he would add a much needed shooting presence and rebounder. One of our forwards (Seraphin, Booker, Singleton) may be enough to get him.

That's a lot of faith in Davis. I'm not saying it's not justified. I can't tell the future.

But Aldridge is a legit star. He's only 26. He's already one of the best bigs in the game, and of the elite bigs he's one of the youngest. He's locked in for three more seasons are reasonable money for his production. He's big enough to play some center (he does) and could easily play alongside Booker or Vesely if either proves worth of big NBA minutes.

While he runs well and is very strong, his game isn't predicated on being able to leap over people. He should age very well. He and Wall would be one of the best 1-2 cores in the history of the franchise.

McGee? I like him and root for him. He continues to tantalize and frustrate. He still struggles mightily on the defensive end other than blocking shots. I think it's more likely that he'll be some form of this player for the rest of his career than the light magically going on him becoming consistent, reliable and productive.

I tend to doubt that Portand would even consider Mcgee/our pick for Aldridge. But if they would listen, I think I'd have to make that deal, At some point, you take the money and stop wondering what the mystery prize is behind the curtain.

As much as the young players names as batted around i think the major trade will involve rashard. Either that or he expires and we hit free agency with space and others suffering due to reduced cap. When this happens what can we get for rashard? One idea i've been kicking around is pau gasol but to me he may make sense at this juncture for both teams except we are in tank mode. Otherwise if goes through their contract is similar, gasol is one year longer and rashard should be bought out

Gasol has positive trade value. He's not acquirable with only an expiring - or shouldn't be, in any case.

I think Ilyasova for Nick Young might be a good deal for both sides. The Bucks have a lot of tweeners playing SG. I think their line-ups look better with Dunleavy or Jackson playing SF and Livingston playing the point behind Jennings. I would give up Seraphin, but I don't think that is the direction the Bucks want to go. I think Booker might appeal to the Bucks, but I would want another player back.

It looks like it will be the Knicks. That does increase the number of destinations for Nick Young, since the Knicks don't have much to trade for a rotation player.

Is it worth giving up Nick if the best you can get is a very late 1st this year?

1. Although none of the players in Nicks contract situation have ever re-signed, it doesn't mean its not possible if the club can get him at a reasonable contract

2. This is a team that already struggles to score. For the sake of development of the rest of the roster (most importantly Wall) is a late 1st worth getting rid of the teams best shooter? Wins like the one against Portland to me are worth more because they show this team's ability when the right pieces are in place.

3. This team needs vets & leadership, not a pick in the late 20's which really doesn't hold too much value in a trade up type of scenario.
