Re: GMAT: March Madness Edition: Trades & Transactions
Pistons accept. I don't know about this deal tbh, we were warming up to the idea of keeping JJ on our roster, but we were ridiculously bored, and felt by the time our team was hitting their peak (still, very proven right now; however, which was the most appealing thing); JJ would unfortunately be a bit older, and someone that likely wouldn't fit w/ our core. I'm generally a proponent of having a veteran even on younger teams, but we wanted more financial flexibility going forward, and had always believed the original idea being to get JJ to flip for better young pieces than we couldn't have done w/ either of Prince or Gordon. We're very high on Burks potential, he's got all the tools, including size, a nice form on his jumpshot, but most importantly, good ball handling skills, which allows him to create his own shot. Singleton is a nice potential defensive wing, and Young provides an explosive scorer; that we believe if used properly, can succeed in a large role. We also pickup another first, and our first improves in value, too.
You know when I put a serious acceptance, this meant business, lol. And oh, yeah, we believe Ridnour has the potential to become the next Steve Nash.

Accepted. We give up a pick but we love Gustavo Ayon, who's been playing really well (and he's on a cheap deal, which is more important for us). We also shed Petro for more cap space next season.

We hate giving up Damion James, but Stephenson's a talented young prospect, who we hope can pick it up on our team. We also pick up a really good backup center in Stiemsma, who's averaging 10rpg/5bpg per36 in limited minutes.
Indiana accepts. We balance the depth chart a litte more, I also like what James brings and Bogans is a solid vet who has seen it all before.
There is no consolation prize. Winning is everything.

PHI and LAC have a trade to announce.
PHI outgoing:
Joakim Noah $12,000,000
John Wall $5,530,080
MarShon Brooks $1,063,865
total: $18,593,945
OKC outgoing:
Kevin Durant $15,506,632
Royal Ivey $1,200,000
Ryan Reid $475,000
total: $17,181,632
Durant is the most valuable player in the league (with a respectful nod to LBJ and Rose). His ability to shoot at an elite level, combined with his size, length and wiry strength make him the most dangerous scorer in the league. We give up a lot but feel it's worth it.

Like the Philly Gm said, Kd is (one) of the most valuebale players in the league, so it was hard to give him, up, but it is a trading game, and i pick up 3 great young talents, Noah well strengthen, my already powerhouse frountcourt, and J Wall, if i decide to trade westbrook, will be a great fit for my team..
Good Dealing

*NOH releases Jason Kapono before trade.
Accept. We weren't gonna be a player in FA, so getting a guy like Favors in this kind of trade is great for us. Pretty sure I can move Williams for expirings and buyout Pachulia, so the cap hit isn't even all that bad.

Accept. We have needed to strengthen our pf slot since trading Scola, and have managed to do so. Getting right of first refusal and still having cap space next season is a plus. The 2nds and cash were my retirement plan, but I still have Social Security.

The Pistons and Pacers have agreed upon a deal.
Pistons Receive
Jeff Foster ($3,000,000)
IND 2012 2nd
Pacers Receive
Luke Ridnour ($3,680,000)
Deal Works.
Pistons accept. We think we can acquire the next Manu Ginobili w/ this 2nd, just sub his name in for that "IND 2012 2nd."

Re: GMAT: March Madness Edition: Trades & Transactions
97 - Two part trade between Indiana and New Orleans
Part 1:
New Orleans Trades:
Hassan Whiteside - $762,195
in return for nothing. Indiana has the roster space to enable this move. This gets NOH down to 14.
Part 2:
New Orleans Trades
Zaza Pachulia - $4,750,000
Indiana Trades
Dahntay Jones - $2,700,000
AJ Price - $854,389
Salaries work under 150% rule.
Why for Indiana? We need a backup big following the Foster trade. Zaza offers good defence and a solid 6/6 in limited minutes.

Luke Ridnour is a solid backup point guard and better than what we're likely to acquire in FA at the postion.

total salary going out: 12,929,389
Memphis takes on some serious salary but we did this because of the 2012 first from Minny which will probably be a lotto pick in a stacked draft class.

The Staples Center tenants would like to announce a deal.
Trade #99: Los Angeles Lakers - Los Angeles Clippers
Los Angeles Lakers Receive:
SG Randy Foye ($4,250,000)
PF Kenyon Martin ($2,500,000)
Los Angeles Clippers Receive:
SF Shawn Marin ($8,022,449)
2012 1st Round Pick (via Dallas with original protection)
Lakers accept.
While I said earlier I wouldn't attach picks on contracts I didn't view in a positive light, I stuck with that. I see Kenyon Martin as a significant contributor to my rotation of bigs to give Dwight Howard and Anderson Varejao a breather. They being expiring contracts only helped this deal. We love what Shawn Marion brings to the table, but at this point he's redundant with Rudy Gay already in the fold.
