fatlever wrote:kemba may have had a better overall game last night than rubio, but that was just one game. plus the twolves were having so much success with ridnour and barea together in that 2nd half they didnt need rubio last night. but lets not be silly here, rubio is unquestionably the better point guard right now and for the future. if kemba was averaging 8.5 assists and 2.5 steals like rubio nobody would get on him about his god awful fg%. the only advantage kemba has over rubio is in terms of creating his own shot. thats it. rubio is a better passer, defender, equal rebounder and equally inefficient shooter.

Is all that I disagree with, Kemba has an uncanny ability to grab rebounds, especially for someone his height (though I'm surprised how many Rubio has, he's averaging more per game but Kemba has an edge based on MPG, so I'll admit it's closer than I thought).
BlackOutBobcat wrote:Basically, Rubio is the better PG and Kemba is the better 2... I like what I've seen though, Rubio is my ROY pick right now but I really like where Kemba is at this point.
EDIT: It's worth noting where Kemba stands amongst his peers when it comes to turnovers...
Rubio: 3.2
Kyrie: 3.1
Knight: 2.7
Shump: 2.5
Kemba: 1.9
Nepo: 0.9

Yeah Rubio is on another level from kemba
Rubio is all hype and flashy passes with a team loaded with stat stuffers
Aside from points, rubio's statline **** all over Kemba's. How does Kemba manage to get 21 points without more than two assists? That's pathetic.
Actually I think Kemba outplayed Rubio in this game...the only things I'm not happy about were Kemba's assists and free throws in this game (0-1). Kemba wasn't "stat-stuffing," in fact he was uncharacteristically efficient this game, shooting 52% to Rubio's 28%. If his 21 points came on 27 instead of 17 shots, than that would be a valid claim, but someone has to score for us. He also only had 1 turnover to Rubio's 3. Rubio has definitely had a better rookie season thus far, but I think Kemba outperformed him here.
Stun704 wrote:Like I said Rubio is the most overrated PG in recent memory, Rubio is not the unquestionably better point guard of the future, he may be now, but thats only because Rubio has more "pro" experience.. There is no doubt in my mind Kemba will have the better career. Rubio's scoring ability is horredous, Kemba is faster, stronger, and better defensively IMO, just because you get steals doesn't mean you are a great defender, as you can see from this game, Kemba has struggled with his FG% yet magically when he plays against rubio hes above 50%.. Coincidence I think not.
Stun704 wrote:Sure Rubio averages more assists and has garners more flashy highlight reel passes at this point in time, but I'm not so sure he'll be the better floor general of the two in the future, Kemba will garner more offensive attention once he becomes a more efficent scorer, he is quicker, stronger, faster, more elusive and like you said can create his own shot. once Silas is either fired, steps down, or changes his (Please Use More Appropriate Word) offense, Kemba will struggle to get assists because we keep running the offense through our big men, and also when our team can hit shots the assists will tally up, you guys forget how anemic our offense is.
Stun704 wrote:Rubio is not an equal rebounder, otherwise he would have a triple double by now.
Stun704 wrote:I counter that statement by saying Rubio is more turnover prone.. Kemba has higher upside IMO then Rubio, and Rubio won't get much better then he is now, the only thing I can see improving is his FG% which will make him a solid middle of the tier PG, but not the heir apparent to Steve Nash everyone is evidently hoping for.
Stun704 wrote:Also The great defensive steel curtain that is Ricky Rubio ended up being -1 despite his team winning the game, Wow.
