Someone made this on NetsDaily right when the game ended, and Avery predictably says the same exact thing in the post-game

I wouldn't do that trade. I agree with Shameer.

He looks like he'd put up good stats on a bad team or can be a 3rd option on a really good squad. But I don't see him being a guy that dominates games.

Heck, even MarShon ranks higher than him in PER and everyone knows where the offense is coming from on the Nets.

George should be getting more open shots with all of the different options on the team and yet he's shooting 43% from the field.

LBJ went from 6 FTA to 8 FTA from his first to second season.
Wade went from 5.1 FTA to 10 FTA from his first to second season.
Melo went 6.4 FTA to 7.6.

Granger went from 1.2 FTA to 3.5 FTA.

George has gone from 1.7 FTA to 2.7 FTA.

If you compare George this season to Wade, LBJ, Melo, Kobe, and Granger 2nd seasons, he actually has a higher TS% than all of them but is clearly lower in PER than all of them save for Granger. His usage rate of 18.4 is also way lower than any of those guys in their second season (save for Granger again).

To me that just screams, that he's 1) not an aggressive player and given his higher TS% but low FG%, he scores a lot on open shots.

George's PER right now is 14.8 and the average player's PER is 15.

I know it's early in his career but I see him being more of a Granger-type of player/star with some defense rather than a superstar.

Considering that Brook was looking like he was going to be 20/8-10 in the preseason, I'd rather roll the dice and keep Brook.

George would be perfect in my eyes playing along side D Will, Howard and Brooks. He doesn't dominate the ball, can score, crazy athletic so will be perfect on breaks and most importantly is a complete lockdown defender.

Every great defender around the NBA right now (90% of them anyway) are just pure defenders like Bogans, Stevenson and Allen. I personally think George has star material and would be a brilliant 3rd or even 4th option behind Howard, Williams and Brooks. He's 6'8 tall and was tasked with guarding Williams down the stretch and Williams just couldnt do anything against him. I know Williams was in full sulk mode and wasnt going 120% but the kid locked him down.

I was completely messing around about the whole Lopez for George thing in all honesty but I would love to have him on the Nets. Lopez has great value but is our only real valuable piece I think we would move hence sticking him in a trade for George.

Our SF spot would be sorted for years if we signed George

Ok, in that case I can kinda see where you're coming from, but I still feel like every championship team needs an offensive closer.

Dwight can't shoot FTs.

If D-Will is locked by an LBJ, Deng, George type of defender, we still need a guy that's going to attack, attack, attack.

We would need a 3rd player that can put the team on his back and just will us to win. Tbh, I don't see MarShon or George being that guy.

They can make key steals and defensive moves for sure.

But when you need a guy that's just going to create offense at the end of the game for that last bucket and draw the foul if need be, neither of those guys fit the bill.

At least with Lopez, there will almost always be a matchup problem if Dwight is still in the game. The other team would be forced to matchup with us and we'd have an easier time dominating.

Obviously, I'm talking as if we had an option. If it happened that we had Dwight without losing our assets that would automatically make us a serious contender.

That's one reason why I think the Lopez and Howard front court would be dominant. They compliment each other game, but my concern is how do we stop the good SG's and SF's in the league?

Did you watch the Memphis game?... if so, then that, but with the Pacers instead.

I was hesitant about a Brook/Dwight pairing, but the more I think about it, the more intrigued I am by it.

On offense, teams won't be able to double either guy.

When one sits because of foul trouble (which both can be prone to do), we don't lose a beat since
we still have a top 10 center to go to.

Late in the game, we can go to Brook for FTs.

My concern is defensively. We pretty much go full zone with those two back there.

The SG/SF with the highest defensive rating is Iggy (94).
Josh Smith also has a defensive rating of 94.

If it wasn't for Iggy's contract and age, he'd be an ideal guy to try to get. BK has already mentioned that he really likes Iggy anyway.
