One thing I'm interested ier than who we obviously get in the 1st round is who we can get in the 2nd. Round

Some very interesting players may be available.
Quincy Miller has dropped in many polls and may stay a second year?
Sacre is a senior with a big body C
Nicholson a senior is a very decent PF
Satoranssky a 6ft6 PG from Check Republic could be a Shumpert type player.
Shengelia a 6ft9 SF from Georgia could be a Klieza type player.

The Euros would likely need a year or 2 in Europe
I assume Miller will go back to school
The Canadian could both add depth and be able to contribute especially if Amir or Davis are moved.

Why isn't Terrence Jones in the conversation for drafting a SF? He isn't even on the poll? His stats, arguably, are better than MKG and HB, and his frame/athleticism is arguably better too.

Terrence Jones 6'9 7'2 Wingspan 19YO .493FG% .3553FG% 6.5RB 2.0BLK 1.3STL 1.3AST 12.2
Harisson Barnes 6'8 6'9 19 .468 .425 5.0 0.4 1.2 1.0 17.5
M Kidd-Gilchrist 6'7 6'10 18 .475 .282 7.7 1.1 1.2 2.2 12.3

Jones is a tweener and doesn't seem to have the highest ceiling. Might end up being a solid rotation guy down the road but we want something more out of this draft.

BTW, he tends to dissapear for stretches and doesn't seem to handle criticism well. Last season he basically shut it down after Cal called him out.

I have been and still am on the Harrison Barnes bandwagon for the record.

Same here (that is if we don't luck out and get Davis). It is funny though, this bandwagon emptied really quick in the first 20 games of last season.

Srsly...I've been on it since last year's draft when we didn't know if he would declare or not. Something about him just seems tailor made for the Raps....can't put my finger on it. I can just see him thriving here.

I didn't watch the game, but it looks like Jeff Taylor went off last night 28/9/3. He's now shooting .495% from 3 (on 4 attempts). This guy has everything to be a good NBA player and if we were in the business of grabbing another first rounder I think he should be our prime target. As a four year player with a fairly polished game he shouldn't have too much trouble producing right away.

I dont get the mad hoopla surrounding barnes in this thread. I think he's a nice player but not someone that will make a significant difference in the w/l column for US (operative word being us). I don't like the idea of two wing players who are more comfortable off the ball, I'd much rather have a pg and a secondary ball handler (ala James Johnson). Harrison doesn't have a great first step and would likely be relegated to 3pt shooting and creating shots from the perimeter with the odd drive when the lane is open. Now I'm perfectly fine with drafting him 3rd-6th but only if we move demar for Lamb/Beal or some existing player capable of attacking the basket and creating for teammates to some degree. Honest to God if we drafted both Barnes and Beal/Lamb I would jizzz so hard I'd break a testicle.

Basically I dont like the current fit with our personnel. Im not going to bother arguing whether or not he is even bpa because based on what I've seen from the lottery picks no one has separated themselves from the pack imo. I

+1... good God if we land Barnes i`ll be one crazy happy man...but of course as much as i was on barnes bandwagon all the time if we win the lottery Anthony Davis it`s a no brainer...

Yup I think the same thing. I think its the approach he takes to the game, very serious about improving, doing what is necessary to get a team win. Granted Gilchrest seems to possess a lot of the same attributes, but Barnes just seems like the prototypical quality small forward. Although, I'm not sure he'll be a superstar, but I think our team should try the 5 above average players style rather than the 2 superstar and scrubs style.

I saw on wiretap that Barnes may stay for yet another year if the Tar Heels do not win the championship this year, do you really think he would stay another year? It actually would not surprise me if he did stay for another year, but we are desperate for a SF and he is the best option. Something always goes wrong when we have a chance at a top pick.

Think last year in retrospect everything went well even dropping 2 slots.

Barnes will declare this year. He'd be crazy not to.

Anyways, I think Wroten and Miller have some crazy upside and assuming that Miller declares and Barnes isn't available, I'd deal down for him. Obviously I'd take a look at Beal and Miller as well.

Wroten and Nash are my guys for the late first round.

Doron Lamb has to be the second round pick.

Actually...assuming we get two picks from LAL in a Calderon deal, I'd go Wroten first then I'd even reach for Lamb if I think he won't be there in the second round. That guy is going to be something in the NBA.

This is probably the best draft to trade down. If we're in a spot where we have to take Drummond I'd trade down for other prospects.

All the lottery teams have a need for a SF.... Banes has been kind of disappointing this year
and he hasn't shown much progress from last year to this year so I don't know what another
year of College is gonna do for him? He thinks he can win a 'ship if Henson, Zeller, and Marshall
all declare for the draft this year? what a weird kid.

I think guys are trained to say this just so they don't have to answer all the nba questions during the NCAA tourney. Which is smart PR.

But a guy with potential for a big extension after his rookie deal needs to start his clock asap. Why risk an injury during college or your rookie nba deal that could put that big extension at risk. 2 years of college should be enough if he has been focusing on his nba skills and working his body year round.

Well Drummond would likely net you the most from a trade down but I don't know if I could do it. The potential there is unbelievable. But again, it would depend on what teams are willing to offer.

I would also look to trade down if our pick lands in the "bigs section" (Robinson, Sully, PJ3, Henson etc). I'd deal down if we landed there for someone else's lower pick plus assets. Maybe if Miller's on the board I'd call Milwaukee about a: Bayless + Ed + PJ3 + late pick for Jennings + Miller/Lamb/Beal swap.

LOL, stat-wise right there arguably close but not better, but you can't judge just by numbers. If you watch any games this year, you see why he's not any better than the both in terms of skillset. He's not the most impacted player on the floor among the three players here.

And he already mentioned he stayed another year cos he wanted championship and also specifically said the nba schedule is too crazy this year. Whether UNC win or not this year, there's no way he stays cos Zeller, Henson and Marshall are likely leaving to nba in june since their stocks are at their peak right now. With everyone gone, I doubt UNC will win anything next year so there's no way in hell Harry will stay.

I would love for Raps to pickup late 1rd or early second round to draft Seth Curry if he is coming out or Pangos...
