OT - Need advice on finding a good Health Insurance Plan

Post#1 » by Leor_77 » Thu Feb 16, 2012 11:10 pm

Hi all,

I'm in a situation where I need to find a good health insurance option. I don't get it through my job, but can afford to pay the monthly premiums, and would like something around $200, or maybe even less. I've been with Kaiser all of my life, and am considering PPO's. I had some not so great experiences with Kaiser where I've had to wait unbelievable amounts of time for an appointment when I was trying to get seen by a good doctor in a specialized department, like Ear Nose and Throat, etc. I don't like how they made me wait 3-4 weeks for an appt. when I really had to be seen, and all they could say was, "Call every day to see if someone cancelled," which almost never yielded a quicker appt.

I'm definitely a young guy (mid 20's) and relatively healthy, although I have sinus and GERD/heartburn issues, more often than I would like. Never had a PPO, although am intrigued by the possibility of going to see whoever I want, instead of who they say I can see. Would appreciate some advice.

Thanks.

I dont know how you are gonna get anything cheaper than Kaiser! (Yes you get what you pay for)
Perhaps your parents can put you on their plan?
