A Dwight Howard trade worth considering

Post#1 » by Soulsphere » Fri Feb 17, 2012 7:04 pm

So I was crunching the numbers and they work out....what are your thoughts?

Though I highly doubt Riley would trade Wade...but here is a thought...

Orlando Get:
Dwayne Wade
Chris Bosh
Joel Anthony

Miami Get:
Dwight Howard
Ryan Anderson
Hedo Turkuglo

Orlando will get 2 players they can build around. Their starting rotation could look like:
Jameer Nelson
Dwayne Wade
Jason Richardson
Chris Bosh
Joel Anthony

This makes sense for them because they wont just lose Howard and can compete with 2 stars. They get Joel Anthony who is serviceable at center to fill the hole Howard left behind. Wade won't have the whole issue with overlapping with Lebron on skill set and Bosh can have more touches. Its a pretty strong team. They still have a strong bench with Big Baby and Redick. The team isn't perfect, but they can move forward with a strong team.

Obviously the Miami would get the best Center in the game in Dwight Howard. Our lineup would look like this:
Mario Chalmers
Shane Battier
Lebron James
Ryan Anderson
Dwight Howard

We have the 2 most physically gifted and talented people in the NBA. Ryan Anderson is lights out from 3s which will spread the floor. He can rebound and because he tends to play on the perimeter, it opens up space for Dwight to stay down low and give room for Lebron to get into the lane. Lebron can dominate the ball like he did with the Cavs and we have a very good inside/outside combination which it is best in the NBA. Shane Battier will provide lockdown D and 3s. Chalmers will provide a fiesty D and 3s and penetration and he doesnt need the ball. We need to take Turk's contract to make the numbers work and he is a serviceable backup where his role will fade on this team. At the end of the day, Wade and Lebron have redundant skillsets. Sure we're giving up 2 stars for 1. But we're talking about the best center in the league here. We get rid of the redundancy as well. If you look at our starting 5....it is a pretty scary team.

I should note....i doubt Orlando would trade Dwight for Bosh straight up. He clearly couldn't make it happen on his own at all in Toronto. And I just don't see them trading Dwight for Wade. Wade is 30. You can't really rebuild with him. With Bosh and Wade, they can compete now.

You lost all credibility right here. You're pretty much saying one of the worst centers in the NBA today can fill a hole that the best center in the NBA left behind... :-?

Plus, Riley would never trade the captain of our team away for Howard straight up after everything Wade has done for the Heat. What makes you think he would trade Wade AND Bosh for him??

Mods do your work.

you cant say that isnt a possible idea even though its not likely because Wade is Miami Heat basketball. He brought Lebron and Bosh to Miami. But can you imagine having Lebron and Dwight on D behind Chalmers and Battier? Lebron can carry the ball all he wants and dish it to Battier, Chalmers and Ryan Anderson for 3s who don't need the ball in their hands? Then he has Dwight howard to play pick and roll...who do you cover on a Howard and Lebron pick and roll? YOU CANT!

You are right about Anthony. But you would figure Orlando would want a center to fill the center position. With out Anthony....they'd have to start Orton.

Like I said....i doubt they would trade Wade.....but the idea of Howard and Lebron is amazing....i guess i'll resort to 2k12 for now. lol

Chris Broussard, is that you?

Broussard's latest attempt at journalism from ESPN Insider:

1. The Magic trade Howard, Hedo Turkoglu and Ryan Anderson to the Miami Heat for Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade

Why Orlando makes this deal: This move not only keeps the Magic in the playoffs, but it could very well keep them in title contention in the Eastern Conference. Wade is still a top-10 player in the league, and Bosh is a top-five big man. Just how good Bosh is often gets lost in Miami because he's the third wheel there, but he reminded us of his ability while Wade sat out nine games this season due to injury.

During those games, Bosh averaged 26 points and went for 30 or more four times. Since Wade returned 11 games ago, Bosh has averaged just 14 points. It's not that Bosh and Wade can't play together (in fact, they're a great duo), it's that Bosh often becomes an afterthought with LeBron James and Wade being so spectacular on a regular basis. In Orlando together, they'd be as formidable a 1-2 punch as there is in the league.

Why Miami makes this deal: Teaming James and Howard would give the Heat the best perimeter player and the best big man in the league. You'd also have the best perimeter defender and the best interior defender. And to top it off, the pieces would fit together better than they do now.

The Heat would be downright scary. And it wouldn't just be the James and Howard Show. Anderson would be the stretch 4 who would open up the floor for Howard to work inside and for James to slash to the basket. Turkoglu would be an additional playmaker, and you'd still have Mario Chalmers, Norris Cole, Shane Battier, Mike Miller, James Jones and Udonis Haslem. Oh my goodness! James would be able to handle the ball like he did with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and he'd have the options of finding Howard, finding his shooters or doing it himself.

Yup, let's just giftwrap the Magic two HOFs in their prime, one the face of our franchise, for a dude who's gonna walk anyway, a scrub, and a negative-value contract. Oh my goodness!

Well maybe people should stop proposing trade ideas that give away the best thing that has ever happened to this franchise.

I stopped reading at "Orlando gets : Dwyane Wade".

LOCK THIS UP

we are fine the way we are, it's just the Center position. I don't even want Dwight either. He is a defensive machine, but he has his faults.

ANY TRADE THAT MENTIONS DWYANE WADE WILL NEVER HAPPEN YOU DON"T JUST TRADE THE GUY WHO MADE YOUR FRANCHISE RESPECTABLE UNLESS HE DEMANDS IT.Sure we get Dwight Howard but trading away 2 superstars for one is a bit crazy especially with Hedo horrible contract.

This team can only be build from free agency in my eyes we will never trade Dwyane Wade , LeBron James , Chris Bosh , Udonis Haslem or Mike Miller. PLUS trading Dwyane to Orlando will only come to bit us in the ass he is only 30 years old if he plays his cards right he can be in the league for another 6-7 years. Also a lot of Miami Heat fans would be bitter seeing Dwyane Wade in a Orlando Magic jersey.

A realistic trade we can accomplish is trading James Jones for an average or less than average center maybe like Ryan Hollins.
