Trade proposal?

Post#1 » by LongLiveIverson » Fri Feb 17, 2012 7:54 pm

Kings fan here, you guys clearly need some back court scoring and help. Your loaded with Talent in the frontcourt, and were desperate for some help to pair with Cousins.

What do you think of a Thornton Milsap swap? Maybe we take on a salary like Raja Bell and throw in Donte Greene young 23yrs old, expiring contract. What are some reactions?

Knee-jerk reaction is a yes from me. I'm a big Thornton guy and I really wanted the Jazz to try and sign him in FA.

BUT... when I stop and think about it, it worries me. I like Thornton but I wonder if we really want to give him that much money over that long of a time if we have guys like Hayward and Burks who we see as our future wings. I guess we could always make another move down the road but still...

However, I would like to know how in love you guys still are with Jimmer. Would he be available or you guys still ok with him?

Oh dear God. No Jimmer please. I can't think of a single player in NBA history whose mere presence could be more divisive to the fan-base, between certain fans and the coaching staff, and between the players. Seriously, look at the way fans behaved when he came to town on another team! Jimmer on the Jazz would be a disaster. Furthermore, his game does not fit what we're trying to do, and it likely never will.

As far as trading Millsap, the return damn well better be a near all-star warrior on a bargain contract, because thats what we'd be giving up. I like Thornton too, but I would decline. The Jazz need to move Harris, Jefferson and CJ, and get some shooting and tradable assets in order to move up in the draft.

I still don't get why half of Jazz fans hate the idea of Jimmer coming here. He's actually exactly what we need... he's a PG, can shoot it from outside and he's a young player. You can't deny that the overall excitement about the Jazz's future would explode if they brought back Jimmer... like it or not, the Jazz management would be more than happy to have him here for monetary sakes. Every BYU crazy would be jumping all over season ticket plans; you even pointed it out, just look how we treated him when he came here on an opposing team.

Anyways, that's sorta off topic.

Anything involved with Millsap is going to draw flak from Jazz fans, we like to over-price him and we have yet to determine his actual market value.

Jimmer would be a perfect fit for the Jazz except he can't run an offense to save his life and he's significantly worse on defense than Harris is and we're already bottom 6 in defense and getting worse by the game.

Thank you...... The guy can't even crack Sacramento's rotation, and it's not like he's got Steve Nash ahead of him......

I don't think a SG is what this team needs...... Especially one who is shooting only 36% from 3......

That's not the point. Having Jimmer as one of our rotation PG's gives the team a direction, having Harris there right now doesn't. With Jimmer, at least we can say we've gone young and working on developing young talent. Who knows, maybe he develops into a future rotation guy/starter or maybe he doesn't, but at least it gives the team a direction.

I can't believe I have to defend Jimmer but...

A) He has cracked Sacramento's rotation, playing 21 minutes per game. That's more than Favors, Kanter and Burks.

B) He's actually shooting nearly 38%, but even 36% is a decent percentage to shoot from three. That's better than Kevin Durant shoots from three. He would easily be the Jazz's second best three-point threat (after Raja).

Do we even have an offense? hell do we even have a defense scheme? Hard to run something that isn't there.

Percentage wise I was talking about Thornton......

Jimmer is just not a PG, he in the Iverson (or Nate Robinson, which is probably closer to Jimmer) mold of an undersizedf SG, and that's not what we need..... And lately he has been beaten out by Thomas...... Who has been playing better than him.....

Ah, okay. Sloppy reading by me. I'm not a big Thornton fan. Not the type of player I would want on my team.

Thorton is an inefficient, ball stopping chucker...if you want him on this team you either dont have a clue how the Jazz play, or you just hate the team.

Yup, he's right up there with Nick Young and JR Smith for innefficient, low IQ wings.

We need an outside threat and a scorer, do you want one or not? Make up your minds.

I'd rather have some "rotation" players that can hit threes than try to go for the homerun by fixing a broken player. JJ Redick? Sure. Raja Bell? Yup. Steve Novak? Sounds good. Kyle Korver? Come back please, but don't try and add a player who's just going to mess up the flow of the game for the rest of our team.

Yeah, that was really cool. Almost as cool as when we play the Lakers, and a bunch of bandwagoners show up to cheer against the Jazz. Makes me want to run out and get Jimmer, just to make those people happy.

Bet you that Jazz management would run out and grab the Lakers if they could.

Inorite? Stupid rookie should be commandeering that offense like the well-tuned thoroughbred it is! Harris would probably average double digit assists in that offense in his sleep!

I'm not a Jimmer fan or hater, but come on, he's a rookie on a terrible team! I would give him more than half a lockout season before I made any assumptions about how good or bad he is. Sadly, I don't think he plays any worse defense than Harris.

As for Thornton, I would say no. He is a slightly more efficient chucker than CJ Miles, and at double the price. No thanks.

And I have another idea for a trade with the Bucks. There Jax went to war with Skiles and wants to go anywhere. In turn, Jennings wants to go to a bigger club and did not extend the contract so Kohl mad at him, because something must be done with it. Give them, Harris and CJ and will be ok: cash is correct, the team is from the East, so it will be not our opponent (except in the Finals :)), and even take off themselves and their problems with the head ...
