NEW YORK—As the Jeremy Lin phenomenon continues to lift hopes and spirits among the Knicks faithful and basketball fans nationwide, team doctors are doing everything they can to maintain the unusually high level of morale by painstakingly and methodically prolonging the groin injury Carmelo Anthony suffered on February 6.

From what I understand, he was slated to be a lotto pick if it wasn't for his Euro contract. Only if we had picked him over Ajinca.

Probably. I'll be surprised if he receives more than the MLE though. He really screwed himself by postponing his huge contract. I don't even see him getting one now, likely nothing more than a two year deal with a playoff team.

If anything, I would argue that DJ is better than him today.

Yeah Linn does need to get his TO's under controll, and really I think the easiest way to do so would be to start limiting his touches a tad. There is no way he should TO the ball more than 4 times a game

Mavs - Knicks game should be fun... the Knicks are moving the ball (that's until Melo returns), Hubie Brown (one of the best analysts out there) is announcing, MSG has that special atmosphere, my favourite player Lamar Odom is playing etc.

The 6th man of the Jaruff/Lamar all-knucklehead team is having one heck of a debut. Threes raining down in MSG.

Delonte and Roddy B are injured, I hope he doesn't play this much when they are playing.

Believe it or not, Carter is the most efficient Maverick according to 82games. He does seem to be the slowest player on the court with only one purpose (to shoot threes) though.

BTW, how about his washed-up cousin complaining over PT? About time, I was expecting it to happen even earlier. Smh at guys like AI and T-Mac, they have a mind state of 2002, while their bodies are in 2012.

Edit: 1k!!!

Does Vince Carter ever cross any of the three point lines? I think he's going after some sort of record Tim Thomas holds. It's just so hard to watch him run.

Under control? If I was the coach, I would bench his ass. I know he scores points and excites people but if you don't punish bad behavior, he'll never learn. It might be different if the Knicks were a four win team like we are but they have a chance to make the playoffs. That kind of sloppy play will kill a team in the playoffs. Four turnovers (what he has so far) isn't bad but when he's hitting seven or more, it's time to put him on the pine.

He's a good pickup for NY's system.

He gets a lot of points, assists, rebounds, steals, and has already drawn a ton of charges on the opposing team. When you have the ball in your hands 80% of the time and constantly forcing the action, you will turn the ball over. 8-1 during the streak with him getting a lot of to's. Doesn't seem to be affecting the outcome of games in a negative way. I'd rather have an aggressive always attacking PG then one who always tries to play it safe because he's concerned about his stats.

Also, teams are GUNNING for him EVERY night and he's still dominating games. This is the mark of a tough and talented player. Unlike DJ, who never turns it over and still loses a TON even when opposing teams don't give a sh*t when they play us. And the lineup the Knicks ran out there in Lin's first few games was terrible, yet he still found a way to win the games.

I understand what you're saying but I just don't like the sloppiness. I mean, I love chuckers and everything but sloppy chucking is unattractive.

Watching Lin play, many of the TO's I saw could be attributed to inexperience. He'll probably learn to not make those plays in the future but something strikes me about a guy that's averaged seven TO's in the past five games. Then again, I just looked at the stat line again and noticed five steals. The TO's are bad but he made up for most of them. That's forgivable imo.

lin was pretty damn special today vs the mavs who were throwing double teams his direction for most of the game. i guess you can live with the turnovers when he is forcing the action so much and handling the ball so much. as a team they only had 16 turnovers, which is still a tad high, but not ridiculous.

melo back will definitely result in less turnovers for lin since he wont have to handle the ball 80% the time.

that being said, he still has room to grow in this area. some of those late turnovers were just awful decisions on his part. he'll get better at that for sure.
