if he plays this way for the rest of the year, trade him for a pick and cap room so that we can for sure sign back lin for long term, novak so that the nets dont take him, jr smith, and landry.

he's nowhere near worth his contract so far.

Let's hope he has a monster 2nd half of the season - monster as in: he scares opposing players, dunks on everyone, knocks down his jumpers, has a 50% FG percentage, blocks shots, and grabs boards - not necessarily having high scoring games.

I totally disagree with this. His ego has been the biggest problem, as he continued to chuck shots, look like a geriatric guy attempting creativity off the dribble generating turnovers over and over and over, and play horrific matador defense.

In fairness to Amar'e, when he came back into the game today after being effectively benched, he looked like he may have finally gotten the message to calm the eff down. He appeared to have checked his ego and focused on rebounding and not being a sieve defensively.

No need to trade stat to keep lin.

if by moving him we can create room to keep jr, I'm all for it. but at this point, we shouldn't be in a panic to get him out of here. this team is playing well, so we can afford to see him work it out on his own.

In this salary cap league, you have to judge a players effectiveness by comparing it to the $$$ that he is counting against your cap. It is for that reason alone that I am down on Amare. He takes up over one third of the salary cap space. That bears repeating: over one third. If you're Kobe, you're more than worth that. Not Amare. I've said it before and been held over the coals for saying it: I am in favor of salary dump trade scenarios involving him and his crippling contract. And no, I don't hate Amare. I actually have much respect for Amare.

Hey, these same Knicks fans were also booing Patrick Ewing when he was declining. I love Lin and what he has done for this team but if he ever were to have a few bad games in a row, this forum will literally call for his head.

If you ever have time, go check the game thread for the Raptors game. Half these guys were tossing Lin under the bus, two minutes into the game.

It's disgusting, but that's some Knick fans for you. Very little loyalty, and prone to temper tantrums like a bunch of 5 year olds.

Before I was hoping he could pull off Kevin Martin and Scola for Amar'e (with Douglas), now with JR I'll do Amar'e (and Douglas) for Scola, our 2012 pick back and fillers

we've got lin locked up for next year, but it's not just him, we could keep some key role players (smith, landry, novak, davis) for sure if we could get some cap room and they're making more of an impact so far (except davis yet)

I'd still move Amar'e just to create space to keep our depth, and hopefully a pick or two.

The team has shown it can win just by playing the game the right way, and with a good pg.

Send STAT, Shumpert, Fields, and any possible picks to Orlando for Howard. Keep Chandler and have him play PF. Our version of the Spurs twin towers. We beat Miami in the ECF because Chandler and Howard man the paint preventing Wade and Lebum from slashing to the basket, essentially making them just jump shooters and they also grab every single rebound.

I'm sure management will make the right decision with Amar'e. If he plays mediocre the rest of the season of course you shop him around during the summer. It's not that he's THAT bad, it's just that he takes up like 3-4 player salaries.

Its nice to see some embrace for this team. The sum is more than its parts. I hope that there are still Knicks fans out there that enjoy this time because its truly a special time. As the Commissioner of the NFL stated during a competition committee meeting discussing overtime rules: "Don't let perfect get in the way of better."

Lin has his turnovers. Stat has his defense. Jeffries has his offense. But all together they bring their special ammunition. I love this Knick team. They are all here to do something special. And im tagging along. No one is free from some scrutiny but exile should not be placed on this team. Even Toney Douglas (poor guy).

I asked the question earlier in this thread - how many posters here have lost a family member, and if it happened to them, how would they feel about having to return to their job in a week and meet demands that they perform that job at a higher level than before they experienced their loss?

I lost my big brother three years ago, and believe me when I tell you I'm still not over it.

Some of these callous 'fans' should hope like hell they never have to face what Stat is facing now. I guarantee you that very few of them will be able to handle it as well as Stoudemire is - and probably none of them face the pressure that Amare faces from those who supposedly 'admire' the team he plays for.

Golden State is dying to obtain an impact big. Amare and TD for David Lee, a pick, and Kwame's expiring contract opens up a lot of cap room. Lee is good in the PnR and probably a better compliment to Melo's game. With Lee, the Knicks would have a beastly group on the boards too.

people in a panic to move amare are the same kind of guys that wanted to cut lin after that first time he played in Sacramento, remember the "worst knick ever thread" the great thing is we don't need amare to play at an all star level right now, we can wait it out and hope he rebounds back and if not then we can do something and still wouldn't get totally burned even if we get nothing back but cap space, we would be in great shape with a core of melo/tyson/lin ether way its a win win so stop this sky is falling crap and show a little bit of loyalty :-?

Amare will always be a hero to me for coming to NY when all the other "big" names rejected us in Free Agency. He made the Knicks a destination team again. He helped attract Melo to NY. And he still serves as one of team's inspirational leaders. And now, one week after his brother dies, people are ready to trash our leader's name and trade him away for Antwan Jamison, Bargnani, etc. And they do this during the best two week run we've had in more than twleve years. Absolutely Pathetic.

 at #tradestat. We should trade all you losers. PLEASE let this thread die and put this tired argument to rest. SUPPORT OUR PLAYERS.

Having a loss has really nothing to do with what anyone in here is talking about.

This thread is not based on the past few games, but rather his entire time being here, mainly this season.

And for your answer to your question I have faced personal loses, my 1st wife and one of my children in a car crash, roughly 16 years ago.

Still had to work, still had my businesses to run, but most important.... a two year old daughter which was a twin, and a three year old son who in the blink of an eye did not have their mother and sibling.

I had to cope and be strong for them, as well as myself to help them, and it still saddens us even to this day, but we must move on even while in sorrow.

But back to the thread...no one is beating on Stat as a person, just the player.
