if ibaka wasnt garbage as an offensive player they might have something special there. he literally cannot shoot a jump shot.

I thought Drew actually played a pretty good game. He had 16 points, 10 rebounds, and 4 block shots. The problem is our point guards (fisher-blake) having 2 points & 4 assists combine. I rather see our rookie guards play, if this is all we're going to get from our vets.

Actually he got a good jumper from 10-15ft and 15-23ft if assisted but westbrook can't create for him so he's struggling this year. (he shot better playing with Harden on the second unit because he would pick and pop a lot and Harden would give him good looks.
He can't do anything else, tho.
He shot 43% from 15-23ft and 39% from 10-15FT last year, but as I said, it needs to be assisted. He can't create his own shot...
For reference: Garnett shot 46% and 32% respectively last year...

the difference is ibaka is left open to shoot where as somebody like KG actually draws defensive attention. this year ibaka has 58% of his attempts as jump shots (according to 82games) and has an eFG% of 36%. thats not very good.

The way some of you remember the game & what actually happened is 2 different things. You guys should really start taping the games & watch them over.

This. And the reason he didn't have more rebounds was because the Suns started missing long jumpers (watching the 3rd quarter again right now) and he hardly played the 4th.

Last year he shot
You said he literally can't shoot a jump shot and you're wrong. He can. For a big he's a very good jump shooter. Please gather info about bigs that shot 43% + from 16-23 during a whole season. Saying he literally can't shoot is false... Sorry.
His problem on O is not his jumper, it's everything else. He sucks on everything else. So I'm not disagreeing with you on that.
When I mentioned Garnett my intention was to compare their long jumpers. Back in the day he'd take it off the dribble and take contested shots, nowadays its mostly wide open shots off rondo and pierce's penetration / pick and pop.
he shot better in the last years because harden would run Pick and Pops for him and kick it out off penetrations and he would knock down long jumpers as well as most bigs out there but he got moved into the starting line up and westbrook is a SG that can't create for others...

Re: Game #31 Lakers @ Suns Sunday, Feb 19th 5:00 PM h
why would you use last years numbers when i said "he cant shoot jumpers" as in the present. KG's jumpers are not wide open, he loves that little fall away at the baseline with somebody on him and the pinch post jumper as well, which any defender with half a brain would close out on.
just to further the KG comparison, ibaka doesnt take nearly the volume of jump shots either. ibaka takes less than 1 attempt per game from 10-15 feet (KG takes 2), from 16-23 feet KG takes about 5 attempts per game, ibaka less then half that, and hes still less efficient. it doesnt matter how you cut it, ibaka is not a good jump shooter.

DEEP3CL wrote:It's because you're reading into his numbers.....I look at his on court effectiveness. We've lost games due to his raggedy ass handling of the ball at times ( @ Utah a few weeks ago), he sometimes kills momentum with easy shots that should've been made. Drew and Pau combined for 33 & 22 and 8 assist and 4 blocks....OK thats all good, but both lack being a "power" presence on defense.Anklebreaker702 wrote:DEEP3CL wrote:If Pau is so damn worried about being traded, then play like a beast and make them doubt trading you or you raise your stock so high it scares teams off. We can't afford to waste games waiting for him snap out of it.
see Deep, this is what I mean. Pau had 17 & 12 with 6 assist. That's a damn good game. It's simply amazing.
All y'all here can base their games on what numbers they put up, so be it....I look for other things I know will make this team a contender if they do it. So far we get it in patches.
I was speaking on tonights game. Pau plays soft we all know that. Tonight he was effective.

Old dogs don't learn new tricks.
Our only HOPE is Bynum. Seriously. If we get the Bynum that finished last season we can contend. Even with Artest / Fish on our team.
More than ever this playoffs will be decided on the defensive end. Players will be on fumes in 2 months. So I believe we can contend if Drew buys in on the D end.
Kobe will jack up shots and Gasol will look soft at times but we could still win it all...
I actually think this Drew is better than last years Drew. He went off defensively for a month. This year he's 3rd in rebounding & 7th in blocked shots. That means he consistent not just hot for a month.

DEEP3CL wrote: Nah...I call Kobe on his BS at times, but tonight when others were not effective Kobe had to handle the ball more than he should. Which in turn caused his high rate of TO's
That's the key. Only every now and again. Plus the second half of your statement is way off. Kobe started turning the ball over early when Drew was totally misusing those fools. Most of his turnovers were early not late when he had to handle the ball
What GAMES? Gortat averages 15.6 & 10.5 that's a very solid Center. I watched the game over & of his 21 he got 6-10 & out of his 15 boards he got 9 while Drew was either out or guarding somebody else. This is why you guys need to re watch games before saying the 1st thing that comes to mindDEEP3CL wrote:Still Gortat shouldn't be having the games he's had on Drew.
DEEP3CL wrote:I'll admit I'm hard on him than most here....but it's because I know he can do better but refuses to when he's not 100% involved.
No problem with this whatsoever except that you're not like that across the board.
DEEP3CL wrote:I never said he was, but the make others better stance is not holding weight with me, yeah Kobe could utilize his players better than he does. But remember he only goes away from them when he senses they're not being effective or playing hard.
Of course it won't hold weight with you. Kobe is like a favorite child to you that a parent turns a blind eye to unless it gets painfully obvious, which this should be. Have you ever heard 1 announcer or coach EVER say Kobe makes player around him better? No & its because Kobe's game is you do what you do & i do what i do.
In this case you can't say screw the numbers. 4 blocks is 4 blocks. 6 assists is 6 assist. Sometimes numbers don't lie DEEP. Had Kobe not been a turnover machine we may have won this game. Maybe, Maybe not. Point is there were more screw ups on his behalf more than anybody else besides Fish & Blake but you'd still rather run to others than starting with Ya' Boy.DEEP3CL wrote:You make it seem as if I'm blaming this lose on Drew and only Drew. I said our bigs sucked, screw what numbers they put up. Neither had a strong impact on the game on the defensive end for my liking. This is why people wanted them both traded for Dwight. But like I've said neither does Dwight changes a whole hell'va lot for us. You know better than anyone my stance on that Ankle.

A universal truth.
Remember when Kobe elbowed Jameer in the chin so hard Jameer was knocked down and sent skidding across the floor?
