So, I guess I could have put this in the bigger amnesty thread, but it was a small question and I didn't want it to get buried there.
When a team amnesties a player, (Arenas, Roy etc) does:
a) The player get all future salary at the time according to the contract being amnestied.
b) As a lump sum
c) Stretched like in the new stretch provision
d) Other?
Is there one default option, or can the team pick between __ and __ of the options?
I thought it was reported that it was b) although there doesn't seem to be a reason it couldn't be a). c) would see to violate the old contract (new cba contracts don't have this problem) although I did see one pre CBA report suggesting c.
{Also, per http://www.hoopsworld.com/salary-cap-ch ... n-12142011 it looks like unguaranteed salary has to get paid too.}
Thanks!

Re: Amnesty Question: When are they amnestied paid
When a player is waived, and the contract is guaranteed, my understanding is as follows ....some may have more complete info than me ....
1 The general rule is, they must be paid per the contract unless there's an agreement otherwise.
2 If he's claimed on amnesty he'd still be paid the same as originally planned, but from two teams not one. But the contract is still in place.
3 If not claimed, it would be according to the terms of the contract for a waiver, which often have stretch provisions written into them (ie, the pay is stretched out over several years).
...If there is no stretch provision in the contract in the event of a waiver, my belief is they are still paid on the same pay schedule as originally planned.
4 If waived (not amnesty) sometimes there is a buyout, in which they'll negotiate the pay schedule as well as the amount to be paid.
