Pierce and Barnes are remarkably similar. Both are capable drivers using their size and strength more than a yo-yo dribble or insane speed/leaping, but both will thrive on their spot-up shooting and 1 and 2 dribble pull-up game. Take a look at the reel of Pierce getting 41 against the cavs below. Anyone who has watched a lot of barnes (I've probably seen 80% of his games at UNC) will see the similarities immediately.

Especially watch Barnes in the VT game here - some of the moves are patented Pierce. Barnes seems like the better leaper while Pierce is thicker, but the arsenal is very similar.

I love that step back he uses in the VT game. Really hope we are able to draft him.

Say yes to Barnes!
Your prototypical Small Forward with one of the smoothest game you ever going to see.
He makes it look effortless; he has length, the size , the pure shooting form , the quick release to be a 20pts scorer at the next level.
He will need a PG that can penetrate and quick out to fully utilize his all around shooting ability.
We would be "WINNING" if we could end up with him!
What an awesome player to watch!

If Barnes is projected to be a Paul Pierce like player I don't know why he's not projected to go number 1, anyways if that's his future projection than i'm all for the raptors picking him up if he's available!
Masai's to do list

I remember coming out of high school Barnes was compared to Grant Hill. Who actually watched him play and saw Grant Hill in his game?

Re: Official Raptors 2012 NBA Draft Thread, Part 6
No way near similar to Grant HIll.
Grant Hill was a SF with PG like handles but couldnt shoot very well
Barnes is the opposite.
Edit:
Grant Hill was a natural facilitator, Barnes is a finisher

Those scouts have no clue sometimes comparing Grant to Barnes.
Their game cant be more opposite

Do this team really needs another player who has poor handles ?

DeMar's handles are improving whether we want to believe it or not, and so is Harrison's. Plus, both guys have been known to have legendary work ethics and acknowledge that their handles need work.

In that case, lets get a ball dominant PG that can penetrate a D and quick out the ball to open shooters
Imagine a speedster Like Kemba Walker breaking down the D and kickin it to either Demar on one side or Barnes on the other.
It would look good
Always good to dream!

Hopefully minus all the injury, that would be sick.

He struggles to drive into the paint and has a glaring lack of handles.
I think your problem is that you're not seeing the things he's never done, things that he obviously would consistently do if if if...
Flu, ty123's arguments are super old he just keeps on repeating same thing again and again, all he kept saying in last few threads was "is he worth top 3? i wouldn't take him high" and comes back with ineffective quote saying he can't drive and having lack of handles and now about 1 on 1 skills? That's ignorant and its obvious he hasn't watched a lick of UNC games this year as Barnes displays his slashing ability and drawing for contacts, and ty constantly attack his lack of handles yet he can still score in many different ways. He has his flaws but he compensates with other qualities. And since when judging a good wing player is based solely on their iso ability, that's a premature talk when a player should be judged on all aspects of his game..., his lack of passing skills/handle are weaknesses but he makes it up with offensive instinct, shooting ability, ability to use p&r/screen, ability to score when he lacks a certain attribute, defense, rebounding, etc) ...ty just slams at barnes for not being a flashy yo yo handle iso 1 on 1 type of player that Melo, KD or Lebron has. But other than that, he ignores barnes' overall attributes. Ty is just trolling weakly especially when he kept arguing nonsense saying Barnes shouldn't be drafted in top end of the draft when all scouts and alot of us here pretty much say he's top end. SMH at Ty.
But you need to be able to iso if you are an elite player. Thats not a knock on Barnes, I still think he can be very good. It's just this team needs a Durant/Melo/Lebron type of homerun in order to e cmpetitive.

It's been made, and it's probably the closest comparison to this point.

That player is not in this draft. Draft BPA, and in my opinion, anything after 1st overall Barnes is the BPA. Barnes game is already very polished on offense and he is still going to get a lot better. It is difficult for anyone to say what his ceiling really is. With his work ethic there is definitely potential for him to develop into an elite player, especially considering the tools he already possesses

Not using our first pick, but if we acquire a 2nd first round pick we need to get Kendall Marshall!

Gojoorange,
I am looking at your Draft Board and you have Quincy Miller as 1a; Barnes being 1 (Barnes being my number 1 too)
I just dont understand what you see in Quincy with his "no elevation" and low point of release on his J." and his mechanical kind of play (on top of a weak knee); not overally athletic to start with (he does have the length)
Quincy on the same level than Barnes on your board? really?
Explain please.
Disregarding Demar as our SG, do you really see Quincy higher than Jeremy Lamb? higher than PJIII?
