ESPN: Teams inquiring about Bargnani, Calderon

Post#1 » by SirHuey » Tue Feb 21, 2012 1:49 am

Lots of teams are calling Toronto about Jose Calderon and Andrea Bargnani. The Raptors aren't likely to part with Bargnani, and if they move Calderon, they'll need to get a point guard in return. That would seem to make a trade for Calderon unlikely.

Why can't we just deal Calderon for a late pick and take a gamble.

Orlando - Stan Van Gundy LOVES Bargs, Otis is desperate, Dwight + Bargs = best front court in the league

Houston - McHale is desperate for size

could be more, but those two I'm quite certain are interested

I guess you didn't get the underlying message in what Broussard wrote, LOL

Bayless isn't a point guard, and he has a glass ankle.

Dunno but would Houston do a deal around Flynn for Jose? He can be awesome as a 6th man for them

We sometimes underestimate our, it's pretty de rigueur for this board. I'd guess lots of teams would like to have Bargnani (and his friendly contract). Even teams with good but older power forwards like the Lakers or Spurs would do well to switch now to a younger guy who offers similar production to their current guy, again at much less financial cost. Who does Denver have at the 4? Wouldn't you rather have Bargnani than David Lee at Golden State? Similar money, but I'd take Bargnani any day if I was the Warrior GM. I can keep on going, there could be a dozen teams, maybe more, who would be better off with Bargnani. That doesn't mean a dozen teams are phoning up with trade offers. Some don't have assets we'd want.

Hopefully this is true. I wouldnt deal Bargnani unless we get a fair package obviously. Calderone and barbosa on the other hand should be moved if a semi-decent deal comes through that dosent affect out cap and also includes picks

Flynn for Jose? That's awful. Jose is having his best year in three seasons and is certainly worth more than a third string draft bust

i really really really want jose to be a lifer. but if we planning for cap space, then we can get even more if we move him for ray felton and their draft pick (top 3 protected). you can sell it now as getting a pg in return even tho you have no plans to re-sign him. and of course the pick either in the mid teens if they make the playoffs or late lotto. this saves the amnesty for getting even more cap space IF we are planning to restock in FA.

Agree with Spurs. Lakers in case of a follow up on Gasol is possible. GS seems unlikely because of Lee, unless they think they can play together. Nuggets are like Raps, they moved Nene to the 4 and have center by committee. Teams like the Bulls, Philly, Milwaukee, Sacramento could be interested. I'm probably forgetting some (Celtics? Pistons?). All those are speculation though, about Magic and Rockets too but those I'm fairly certain of, especially Rockets (Morey probably loves Bargs as well).

Jose is our MVP this year. And maybe last year too (down-year that it was)....

His value is extra-high next year as our team breaks in Val and another very high pick. A pass-first point guard who protects the ball with leadership skills could be vital in the transition of our new assets to the NBA next year and the fast-track of the franchise.

If we trade Jose, we better get lots in return. I'd even be prepared sacrifice his leadership - everything i just talked about --- but it better be for significant upside.
