In:
P. Gasol, E. Gordon, M. Barnes
Los Angeles Lakers

New Orleans Hornets
Out:
E. Gordon, E. Okafor
In:
D. Williams, B. Miller, A. Tolliver, Utah 1st
Here's why the trade makes sense-
The Wolves consolidate pieces for a playoff push.(Think Boston acquiring Garnett and Allen)
The Lakers finally pull the trigger on a Gasol trade. New starting lineup: Bynum / Okafor / Beasley / Bryant / Ridnour. Wes J gets to play with his mentor.
The NBA is trying to sell the Hornets to a new owner so they want to cut salary and acquire young talent/draft picks. Plus this deal prevents the Hornets from giving Gordon a huge contract.
Wolves lineup:
Pau/Pek/Darko
Love/Randolph
Barnes/Webster
Gordon/Ellington
Rubio/Barea/Lee
Rotation:
Pau 18/Pek 30
Love 36/ Pau 12
Barnes 24/Webster 24
Gordon 36/Barea 12
Rubio 36/Barea 12

The Hornets definitely wouldn't do this, Gordon's the face of the franchise, they're not going to trade him and Okafor for a rookie with a lot of question marks.

No chance the Hornets do this. Beautiful trade for Minny though.

Re: MIN/LAL/NOH
not a bad trade scenario, but I can see a little more to NOH and a little less to LAL ...
Gordon is not the face of the franchise for NOH and I don't believe he has any interest to stay there regardless. With minutes DW can put up an easy 13/9 for a rookie ... not too shabby and everyone on the league knows it including NOH. His defense s not great, but not bad enough to discourage trade interest. Stacked behind Love and Pek, there will be a buzz around him as we edge closer to the deadline.
I don't for a second believe NOH would not jump on a deal to acquire him in a trade - even if it included Gordan.

Flip response to Love wanting out, "He has no reason to be upset, you're either a part of the problem or a part of the solution"

Re: MIN/LAL/NOH
New Orleans does this trade in a heartbeat for a simple reason. Cap space.
Outgoing: Gordon makes $12-15 mil a year starting next year and Okafor makes $14 mil the next 2 years.
Incoming: Derrick Williams is going to make $5 mil. The other $20 million can be used to sign OTHER PLAYERS. It doesn't just magically not matter.
Minnesota, on the other hand, is adding $35 million a year in cap spending on Pau Gasol and Eric Gordon. Now add in Love, Pekovic's contract in 2 years and the rest of the team and the Wolves are well over the Lux in 2 years.
This is a bad trade for Minnesota because the money isn't right.
