Unlikely we deal Bargnani after investing so much in maximizing his potential.
Calderon only gets moved on a deal where we get something significant. I wouldnt be in a rush to trade them.

Seriously, you can say oh but there's no way to predict lighting would strike with Bargs improvement as it's such an outlier, but what value do you really think DeMar or Ed have at this point in the league? What do you think they could get you? Even as main pieces in a package? What value did you think they had at the end of last season?
I understand the intent of your post, but without knowing what's being offered you can't really asses value. Contending teams might want Jose because they think they can get him for nothing. Bargnani was, by BC's own metrics, one of the worst players in the league last year. So if he had value, it would have been speculative value at best.

I'm saying this year what value do you expect guys like Jose and Bargs have in a trade, and what value do you expect guys like DeMar and Ed to have.
And Bargs was never one of the worst players in the league.

But hear is how I'd deal with Calderon and the PG situation:
Trade Calderon For a Mid round pick.
Then Sign Arenas. (Total gamble, apparently he's back to the 06 Arenas and has had a change of heart)
Then Package Bayless and that pick for a Lottery pick.
Draft Kabongo and Barnes.
2012-2013 Line up
Areans- Kabongo
Derozan- Barbosa (Resign)
Harrison Barnes- James Johnson
Andrea- Ed Davis- Gray
Val- Amir Johnson- Gray
That's a LOT of potential.
who's giving up a mid-round pick for Jose? lay off the sauce...
I disagree. I think that the Jazz would give a late lottery pick fo Calderon. Their pick currently sits at #13, and the Raps could take back Jamaal Tinsley as a replacement. Tinsley is pretty good, he just doesn't seem to get along with the coach. Devin Harris could be an option too, but he still has one more year on his contract after this one.

We should be willing to deal Jose even if we got pick #30. Beggars can't be choosers.

LOL how are we the beggars if teams are calling us?
The ability of this fanbase to underrate our own talent never ceases to amaze me. The way Jose has been playing, we can get a good return for him.

I'd be fine with that but we almost got tyson chandler for him last year. Think his trade value might be much higher than realgm thinks. Coaches and gms seem to place high value on meticulous style pgs

Depending on how the offseason turns out, Calderon is most likely to be amnestied. Therefore anytrade involving him must include salary relief. Along with sweetner late pick or prospect.

Nah, man you don't strike lightning twice. If you get that 30th pick I'd still deal him without looking back.

Everyone's available for the right price.
BC has this habit of acquiring players and then when they start playing out of their mind and way over what we're used to seeing, he doesn't deal them

Re: ESPN: Teams inquiring about Bargnani, Calderon
Bargs isn't going to be traded. There's been too much invested in him, though a GM is always open to listening.
Calderon is much less of a cornerstone for the franchise. His contract isn't a concern for other teams because it's only 1 more year, so people may be looking at it as an asset to free up cap space. I would absolutely trade him to a team for a mid first rounder, depending on if there's someone we really like. Which means that something involving a draft pick may not happen until the offseason, though BC could always trade for the 2013 draft in advance, and make a bet against one of the teams getting worse after a year, in which case they'd probably want him now for a playoff run. If gasol stays in LA, I could see the lakers being a good trade partner. Everyone wins in that case.

What are you basing the idea that Jose is the most likely to be amnestied this year on? The "realgm board conscensus"?

BC has mentioned the amnesty clause a few times, and said how using that we can get lots of cap space. Since the amnesty only works on players on contract during the lock out. By process of elimnation its safe to assume only amir, klieza and calderon are in the running. Since calderon has the biggest deal + 1 year remaining on his deal i think if amnesty is used it will be calderon.

LOL, I don't think thats how it goes. Anyway, his value is probably higher now than it was when we were trading for Chandler and as was already mentioned... we're not the beggars in this scenario.

amnestying calderon means paying him $10 mil not to play for us and then allocating millions more for his salary slot replacement. you think ownership is down with that? i expect the amnesty to be used for a much smaller deal UNLESS we are bringing in some major players...

yes i do think MLSE will pay the money, if BC can make a case for signing someone better and long term. And once amnestied its safe to assume some team will bid on him like billups. Atleast 2-3 million on him. So only on the hook for 7-8 mil.

Jose for Felton and a lotto protected 1st. Portland makes the playoffs with Jose over Felton, the Raps don't have to use the amnesty on Jose to get salary relief, and the Raps also get an 18-20's pick this year.
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

Utah can't trade their pick.
2012 first round draft pick to Minnesota
Utah's own 2012 first round pick to Minnesota (top 14 protected in the 2012 draft and top 12 protected in the 2013 draft). If Utah has not conveyed a first round pick to Minnesota by 2014 and also if Utah's own 2014 first round is not within the top 9 picks, then Minnesota will have the option to swap their own 2014 first round pick with Utah's own 2014 first round pick. If Minnesota does not receive a first round pick by the 2013 draft and also does not swap 2014 first round picks with Utah, then Minnesota will receive Utah's own 2014 second round pick.

They can trade the Warriors' pick.
2012 first round draft pick from Golden State
Golden State's own 2012 1st round pick to Utah via New Jersey (top 7 protected in the 2012 Draft, top 7 protected in 2013, and top 6 protected in the 2014 Draft). However, if Utah via New Jersey has not yet received this first round pick by the 2014 draft, then Utah via New Jersey shall instead receive: (i) Golden State's own 2014 2nd round pick and (ii) Golden State's own 2016 2nd round pick.

I have no doubt it my mind that Calderon will be traded at the deadline.
I may end up being wrong, but as it stands right now I can't imagine him on the roster past the deadline. He'll end up with on a contender of some kind.

Portland is not high. I wouldn't touch that deal if I were Portland.
