Marvin Williams Would Like Trade From Hawks

Marvin Williams continues to be an ancillary part of Atlanta's offense and sources say he would like a trade.

Williams is averaging just 9.6 points per game this season and would like to find a situation where his usage increases.

Wes Johnson + Darko Milicic for Marvin?

I think it's worth a try. I mean he can't be worse than Wes Johnson and Darko currently is in the doghouse/injured and not likely to get out of it knowing his attitude issues. :dontknow:

I don't think they want Darko, but Wes plus Randolph should do the trick.

Marvin's contract is terrible. We need to get rid of Darko in process or I'm against the deal.

I'd be down with that if all it cost was Johnson and one of Randolph/Darko/Tolliver.

It's not great but it's that bad. $7.5 million this year, $8.3 next year, and a player option $7.5 in 2013/14.

I doubt he's got much more than Wes, and if he doesn't I'd be it's not on the defensive end. Plus, it's a lot more likely that he's not going to show much more than he has than Wes. PLUS, he has a horrible contract.

I'd much rather pluck T-Mac from the Hawks if we could, and hold on to Wes. I'd trust him to knock down open shots more than Marvin, he's got a tiny, 1-year contract, and knows Adelman.

Randolph for T-Mac, and Marvin can pick up Tracy's 5 mpg and feel like he's coming out a winner.

...that's pretty horrible for what he is at this point.

Darko would be a good fit there. He would never have to touch the ball on offense and could just focus on defense.

IDK, I'd rather pay $8 million for 10-12 ppg and 5-6 rpg and .444 3pt% and a PER of 16 than $8 million for Johnson's 0/0/0/0 stat lines and PER of 5 and Randolph's DNPCDs.

The 3 point percentage is nice, but it's also much better than he's ever shot from that range so I don't know if you can expect it to continue.

I'd be cool with Wes + Darko or Luke/Barea + Darko.

We would need to trade Beasley though, or he or Williams could become very disruptive.

Sell Beasley to Lakers for capspace + pick.

Then we'd have three future picks and D.Williams to get a SG and a backup center.

Atlanta Journal Blog post essentially telling Marvin to not let the door hit him on the way out:

http://blogs.ajc.com/jeff-schultz-blog/ ... -the-joke/

Am I crazy or is Marvin basically the SF equivalent of Afflalo in Denver?

$8M for a starter in his prime with a 16.3 PER and solid defense seems more than reasonable to me.

His contract isn't that bad. I'd take his production over some of the guys we currently have (Johnson, Darko, Barea, Randolph, Beasley, etc.)

No. Afflalo is a far better defender than Marvin.

He also has had negative +/- 3 out of the last 4 years, including a -7.1 points per 100 possessions this year.

Is he? I don't even think he's better, let alone "far better".

Afflalo gives up .99 points per shot ranking him 357 in the NBA. His defensive rating is 109 when he's on the court, which is the worst rating on the entire team (tied with Demare Carrol).

Williams gives up .81 points per shot ranking 139 in the NBA. His defensive rating is 101 when he's on the court which is about middle of the pack on his team.
