2012 starting lineup?
Already can't wait for some giants baseball. What will the starting lineup be?
1. Melky CF
2. Sanchez 2B
3. Pablo 3B
4. Posey C
5. Huff 1B
6. Belt LF
7. Nate RF
8. Crawford SS
9. Pitch
Hopefully we can figure out Cain's situation our rotation looks nice!

Re: 2012 starting lineup?
We didn't trade for Angel Pagan to have him come off the bench. If Huff plays like he did last year, i'd rather bench his ass and put Belt at 1st.

Re: 2012 starting lineup?
Unfortunately we're not the ones making the decision - Huff's gonna be the starter and Belt might have trouble even making the opening day roster cause of Pill. Pagan will definitely be a starter, probably at the leadoff spot. If Cabrera isn't hitting second cause of Sanchez he'll be in the 6 spot.
Offense isn't good but no one expects it to be. It's got the potential to be close to average though, which is enough for our pitchers. I certainly wouldn't mind signing a FA SP to a short term contract as backup though. I have a feeling one of Vogelsong or Zito isn't gonna cut it this year.

Re: 2012 starting lineup?
Zito is what he is at this point, i'd be satisfied with 170+ innings, 4.5 ERA, 1.3 WHIP. etc.
If Vogelsong can maintain a 3.5 or so ERA i'd be happy, i don't expect him to replicate what he was able to do last season by any means. But as long as he can be a solid 3rd/4th starter, I'm ok with it.

If Melky is batting leadoff to start the season, then we're in for a long season, folks.

Re: 2012 starting lineup?
offensively, we're definitely in for a long season. I want to see how the young guys develop, but you're right we're pretty much obligated to play Huff thanks to that contract. Hopefully he has a decent year, but it's not looking good, he's sucked 2 out of his last 3 seasons. Maybe he should try to go the other way sometimes instead of pulling every single pitch and grounding out to second.

Re: 2012 starting lineup?
Hi fellow Giants fans. I post regularly on the Red Sox board as I am a fan of them, but I figured I needed a NL team and a west-coast team to support, and the Giants were the obvious choice. I have liked this team for a lot of years but have never really followed them too closely, so I don't know a huge amount about a lot of the players. I'm hoping to learn plenty from posting here. Does this board get many posters?

Re: 2012 starting lineup?
We have about 5-6 posters who post semi-regularly here for the past few years. If some of the Warriors board posters would just click the **** regional links, we'd have at least 10 guys here and a good amount for regular discussion.

Speaking of which, someone tell Stanford to stop dicking around on the wrestling board and get back to his roots

Re: 2012 starting lineup?
Thanks for the welcome guys. I've spent the last few days getting to know the roster, and I don't see why we can't have a very good 2012. The starting rotation is great, and yeah it would be nice to add some more offense, but if everyone stays healthy, I think we can make some noise. Thoughts?

Those regional links do come in handy; I used one to get here from the Kings forum. Unfortunately, the only thing stopping me from being an active poster is the login process. I just can't build up enough motivation to type in my simple user-name/password -- most days. I know, lazy, right?

The season is so close now! I feel like our offense will be surprise a lot of people this year, but that's just me.

It doesnt need to surprise people it just needs to not be dead last in the national league. The pitching will hold us up if we can score say 4 runs a game.
