If the Lakers have the current roster they have now and they make it out of the first round then I think I would say that Kobe is a clear top 3 player of all-time. If the roster stays the same and he wins a championship with Ron Artest playing more than 12mpg then he is easily the greatest player of all-time.

Kobe is the most marketed basketball player of the last decade.

Marketing in general has gotten more aggressive since Jordan's days and if it wasn't for the rape fiasco they would have probably managed to put him on a pedestal above Jordan.

Kobe can win 5 more championships and he still will not be better than Jordan because Jordan was a more dominant, and most importantly, more efficient basketball player on both ends of the floor.
