Trade: Millsap+Big Al for Garnett expiring 21mill+Bass+picks

Post#1 » by robbie84 » Tue Feb 21, 2012 1:17 pm

Hi guys, Celtics fan here.

We know you guys like Rondo, but most Celtics fans like him too.

We understand that Kanter and Favors are your future in the paint, and how you would love Rondo to be getting the ball to them inside.

Anyway, we Celtics fans would love to get a shot at a title with Rondo+Pierce, and where we are getting crushed is on the offensive/defensive boards.

How open would Jazz fans be to taking on KG's giant contract (which expires at the end of this season) for Millsap and Big Al's $23.5 million combined worth?

We would give you both our first round picks and whatever fillers you would like. eg: Brandon Bass, JaJuan Johnson, Avery Bradley etc...

This way you would clear the books of Big Al and Millsap, whilst getting the two first rounders to play with, and two very solid young players in Johnson and Bradley, and a tested beast of a 6th man in Brandon Bass.

I know Jazz fans want Rondo for Millsap and Jefferson, but Danny Ainge really won't move Rondo for either of them. Maybe if you gave us both of them for Rondo and a pick, or your Nets/Golden state pick +Millsap might work.

Would there be any chance of this happening?

If not, would you guys take anything else for the two of your older (they're only 27 I know) big men?

Lets try and help each other out here....and no, I'm not trying to hose you, just seeing if the cap relief would help you guys develop Kanter and Favors quicker, whilst using the picks to build with
One day Marcus Smart will be defensive player of the year, mark my words.

Celtics trade makes sense if we are salary dumping Millsap and Jefferson to sign a free agent in the offseason. The problem with that no free agent worth any salt doesnt want to play or live in Utah. We also do not need more picks as we have potentially 2 lottery picks in next years draft and too many young guys already. Any trade with the Celtics will involve Rondo to Utah and Harris to Celtics with you guys taking on Millsap or Jefferson.

On 2nd thought KOC might do this uggghh ..... As Toledo said, cap room doesn't do us much good. Bass is basically a poor mans millsap who could choose to leave next year since he has a player option. And those picks will likely be out the lottery and not exited about Boston's young guys although JJ Johnson might be a nice backup. As for Kanter and Favors, they will develop with or without AL and Millsap. Theres an old saying that players develop in practice not games. I mean playing time did little good for someone like tyrus thomas, you either gonna be good or not period.

So unless its for rondo or unless Boston wanna take CJ or Raja off our hands in a small trade; the jazz shouldn't have any interest. We can get more value for Millsap and Jefferson.

In theory it sounds really good.

In reality, the Jazz have no use for that much in expiring money.

Thanks but no thanks.

I'd give up Jefferson and Millsap for Rondo. I'd also give up Millsap (or Jefferson) and the GS/Nets pick for Rondo. But it probably makes sense to send Harris your way, too, since you'll need to fill the spot, and Harris could do it nicely.

Thanks for the well thought out post. I think Boston would really miss KG's presence. He's a big part of your defense and, more importantly, your team attitude and identity. But from the Jazz side, In the new world of the CBA, Utah might really like to shed all that salary, so it's not as far fetched as some have said.

I think moving Jefferson is more likely than Millsap from both team's perspectives. Jefferson is bigger and does more for your offense than Millsap, plus Millsap is more loved in Utah. Jefferson and KG on the floor together would be great. I really think that Harris/Allen/Pierce/Garnett/Jefferson is a lot better than what you are fielding right now. But I understand Boston's reluctance to move Rondo. He's the only future facing piece you really have, and he's looking very good.
