I was wondering does he have the potential to turn into Shawn Marion, i know he is a terrible basketball player, but does he have a chance?

It's hard for me to get a good idea on what Wes will be. I loved a lot of what I saw in the Houston game. His defense was good and he wasn't settling much. What worries me is how inconsistent he can be with aggressiveness and his release. Even though he isn't a good dribbler and that affects his aggressiveness, I think it has more to do with his feel and awareness of the game. His release his so inconsistent. I have seen a couple shots where he way over rotates on his release. His fingers points straight down sometimes. That worries me, he needs to get a lot of reps up and fix that. I do wish Adelman would post Wes up just a little. When Wes is guarded by smaller players thefts when they need to get him involved by posting him up for easy looks.

He has got athleticism, he has got some strenght.. He has got decent skills.. I can't believe he plays so bad. I came to the conclusion that is problem is only his attitude to the game.. He is probably not hungry enough, not determined, not confident.. He always has that smile on his face, he probably doesn't care about this game cos he has the talent to be a good Nba player.. He is the same as Darko. Good talent but terrible attitude.. What a waste

As soon as he gets he's outside shot back he will be a valuable asset to his team. He was designed by Kahn to make athletic plays and stretch the floor for Rubio. But with no outside shot the design fails miserably.

Judging from his performance tonight...

...a respectful, "no".

His defense is usually solid, and his BB IQ is higher than Webster's. His trade value right now is very low, I would not trade him for similar value. He's pretty old and picking him was a mistake, but I think he can become a solid role player. Last year he was alright. Just really hope he went harder all the time and his perimeter shot hadn't regressed.

Wes Johnson is only 2 years younger than Gerald Green. What's the difference? Wes Johnson is still on his rookie contract.

Well, the biggest thing Wes is missing is 3 point shooting. So what's the chance that Wes Johnson fixes his shooting mechanics with a shooting coach in the off season and comes goes back to his rookie 3 point shooting percentage? 35%?

If he does that, he's a solid rotation player and we can speculate about him improving from there. If he doesn't, cut his ass.

As Adelman recently stated, "Wes is not a 3-point shooter ... he's a slasher".

Wes must learn to produce off the ball (same goes for Beas) - cut to open space, hit mid-range j-shots, and clean up garbage points on offensive boards. From there, play defense.

I think our best chance for Marion comes in the offseason.

Marion + 3 mill cash (I'm sure Cuban would toss that in) for Miller (unguaranteed) (maybe even try and grab a future first)

Dallas will amnesty haywood; and then after cutting the unguaranteed deals dallas will have dirk, roddy, d. jones, and cap space to pursue howard or someone else.

-Dallas will want Marion for the playoffs this year. We continue to progress our guys (maybe move Beasley?, Ridnour?, Johnson? for picks or a SG), then grab Marion in the offseason when Dallas wants that cap space

No, Wesley Johnson cannot become the player Shawn Marion is defensively or offensively. Shawn Marion's versatility is palpable. He was the type of player you could put into your starting rotation. Wesley Johnson barely breaks rotation. Between these two players, Basketball IQ is not comparable.

Johnson is owed 4 million, this year and next. Then there is a team option worth 5.4 million. I don't believe nor do I know he will become a rotational player by the end of next year. It's unlikely he's part of the larger plan, to be a championship caliber team, at this point.

His value is not very high, but I'm sure there is some team desperate for potential; we should trade him pronto for a draft pick, or use him in a larger trade..
