this is fantastic, sooo happy right now. good for you ryan braun.

espn can spin it however they want---the entire nation is waiting for braun to speak right now. his quotes, not espn's, are going to be in all the papers tomorrow. here's hoping he calls them out hardcore for all to see.

ESPN is a bunch of clowns. Any person that would still "assume guilt" even after a negative test, and with absolutely zero suspicious evidence of Braun juicing (unlike Sosa, McGuire, Bonds, etc.) is a joke, plain and simple. He's passed 25 tests, had one negative test where he had ridiculous testosterone levels, and he was the first player cleared. If people still want to assume he does it, it's their prerogative, but they are a clown, period.

Hopefully Braun can handle the adverse reaction he's going to get on the road. He'll get it every game, in every city. Boos every time he's up to bat, no doubt.

For those of us (me) who don't want to click a bunch of Twitter handles to figure out what he's getting at, care to chime in?

He's saying that chain of custody played a part but wasn't the deciding factor and that Braun's defense was able to replicate the insanely high test and show exactly how it could have happened.

Not that it's a shock to anyone here but it's much more than just a technicality like ESPN and MLB would lead you to believe.

So, the defense proved that the courier waiting a day and a half to ship the sample could actually cause the spike in testosterone levels by replicating it?

The guy twirl linked to said they should how the test was currupted in repeatable tests. Does that mean they were able to show the escalation in testosterone?

Attanasio statement:

“Since joining our organization in 2005, Ryan Braun has been a model citizen and a person of character and integrity. Knowing Ryan as I do, I always believed he would succeed in his appeal.

“I also want to reiterate my support for Major League Baseball’s strict substance testing program. It is unfortunate that the confidentiality of the program was compromised, and we thank our fans and everyone who supported Ryan and did not rush to judgment.

“The team is looking forward to seeing Ryan in camp tomorrow. With this now behind us, we return our focus to the ballpark and defending our NL Central Division title.

Nice subtle jab at ESPN, I think. Or maybe I read too much between the lines.

That's what I'm getting from it. Also gives credence to Dan Patrick's comments. He said someone close to the situation said multiple teammates of Braun who took a test at the same time had elevated levels of testosterone in their samples as well, just not nearly to the level of Braun's

Not to quibble over details, but I thought the other 2 players levels were even higher than Braun's so they just threw them out. When they announced the chain of custody stuff the Dan Patrick thing came to my mind right away, all 3 samples were probably kept in similar conditions.

does anyone know (and not that it's going to happen), but does braun have a potential lawsuit against espn? for slander, defamation, etc. in releasing this news when it was supposed to be confidential? granted, they're a news organization and can report what they like, but when it's so obviously defamatory as to taint his reputation and 'brand', does he have a legal leg to stand on?

cuz that would be AWESOME to watch espn try to not report that :D

Thanks to Twirl for sharing the Will Carroll tweets. I just spent a bit going through each of them and it makes sense. It also pisses me off that ESPN isn't even acknowledging this ****.

Bolded the key. No legal case exists, especially since the initial story was true (Braun failed MLB drug test).
