I've been thinking the same. The future of the Magic is bright with or without Dwight. If we don't trade him we could suck for a season then have a high draft pick, and cap space for 2 max deals.

No matter what happens, so long as the Magic are in Orlando, there will be a reason to watch them play. There is always something.

PG-Ellis/Jameer
SG-JRich/JJ
SF-Josh Smith/Liggins
PF-Ryan Anderson/BBD
C-Dwight/Fran :D

That sure looks like a contender to me

I'd MUCH rather go this route than do the NJ trade and get draft picks. Draft picks in this league are garbage. Give me the opportunity to sign 1-2 max PROVEN players in this league any day over draft picks on some kids with potential.

WHY do people keep saying this? The NJ trade gives you the EXACT SAME option to do this...AND remove at least TWO the heavy/lengthy contracts imediately PLUS a great young/cheap prospect in Brooks and two high draft picks to boot.

Exactly, the New Jersey deal is a jump start on any rebuilding and adds so much more flexibility and talent.

Nash says he's "happy where I am" but understands team has to do what's best. On trade, "Im completely open to it if they think it's best."

So Bynum is getting injections in his knee. Lakers management says it's just part of his ongoing treatment and maintenance.

Does that worry anyone else? I know knee injections are fairly routine these days, but still, given his history...?

eh it doesn't matter imo... I highly doubt Dwight is getting traded to LA... and I'm starting to suspect Dwight doesn't want to go to LA either

Probably true. Just more fuel to the fire of 'please not Bynum' IMHO.

You can't be serious. This 2012 draft is stacked. You realize Dwight was an unproven player with potential when we drafted him. Not to mention Marshon Brooks will be a star in this league.

The 2012 draft is too good to miss out on unless Dwight is staying.

I know it's alot to ask for a player to essentially sacrifice a year of his career. But if Dwights goal is to win, then Orlando has a good chance to add good players and contend.

We may not be the favs to win a title now but we're still winning. He has to know that going to the Nets doesnt guarantee him anything. Orlando already has a solid core to build around with Ryan and JJ..Can you imagine adding Iggy, Josh or Monta to a roster that includes Ryan and Dwight? If Dwight stays he'll get players to come to Orlando. Especially with a brand new arena in Florida and a rich owner.

Well, there are no guarantees one way or the other when it comes to the lottery. If your numbers don't come up, what might have been a great pick might end up being the 6th or 7th. And 2013 doesn't look to be too bad - isn't Andre Drummond talking about staying in school an extra year? That kid Shabazz Muhammad is generating a lot of buzz, too. 2013 could be a special draft for those picking early, too.

The Nets if they got Dwight now would probably be over .500 by the end of the season and NOT lottery bound. I don't care how stacked the draft is, that doesn't mean spit after the 10th pick.

I say the Magic can't do much worse letting Dwight walk even with the slim chance he stays or at least opts in for another year.

the nets are 10-25, they have 31 games left..you honestly think the nets would go 24-5 (83% win)...they are 6.5 back of the last playoff spot, but no chance they reach .500

No one drooling over Nash saying he'd be OK with a trade? We go wild over all the speculations then when he actually speaks no one says anything.

That draft pick won't be a top 5 pick and anything after that is a gamble.

We will still suck next year even if we do the trade, so we would be in the 2013 draft regardless. Difference is we would be on our way to a much better rebuild with the trade.
