Narration of Joel's Defense vs NY

Post#1 » by Diggity Dave » Fri Feb 24, 2012 5:27 pm

Cooper Moorhead of NBA.com put together this nice video of Joel's defense vs NY, narrated via commentary by Battier and Bosh.

I tend to get somewhat frustrated with Joel at times, and then I see things like this and I can't help but love the big clumsy lug.

For as bad as he is offensively, he really is a phenomenal defensive player. His size speed and timing gives this defense so much versatility. If he was a better defensive rebounder he would definitely garner attention for defensive awards.

I like Joel a lot defensively, just not as the starting Center, his hands, and rebounding is iffy. But against NY, I don't know, he just has their number LOL.

he played his butt off last night though, hot damn. Even hustling for rebs in traffic with Chandler there.

If the dude had an offensive game, even a jumper or could rebound better, we wouldn't lose one game

Joel Anthony played like **** Zo. This is why I've said to you all in the past, not to trash him, because against the Pick and Roll, this guy is Top 3.

He had so many block shots it was amazing. He seems to play better in big games for some odd reason.

He's **** offensively, and his overall defense is average, but when it comes to Pick and Roll defense, he's right there with Noah.

If only we could deploy him off the bench as an energy guy.

This. Good God, this.

I think most/all of us appreciate Joel's versatility in what it allows us to do defensively. It's just that seeing easy baskets get botched or rebounds given up gets annoying and so we bitch louder than we laud. It's plain as day that he's out there busting his ass to be useful though.

I don't think anyone would fight replacing Joel in the starting lineup with a more complete C. Finding one is the trick lol.

That is an awesome video. Joel really does do all the little things.

If he can keep it going and maybe even improve a little I think he will do fine as our centre.

His offense was doing OK about 10 games back where he would do a sorta baby hook when close the rim but I havent seen it for a while.

If he can bring the hook back and not fumble any more catches and keep up his defensive play I think he is exactly what we need at C.

I know man, in the beginning of the season it looked like Joel improved, even had some offensive game... but not anymore.

His hook was good before  It's gone now :(

This team would be even more scary with Dalembert, really thought he was gonna sign.He and and Joel would have completed our frontcourt... ah well.

I'm still hoping that Chris Kaman shakes loose after the trade deadline.
