1. If Jake Locker, Blaine Gabbert, and Christian Ponder were top 12 picks last year then there is absolutely zero chance Ryan Tannehill does not go in the top 12 this year. He's better than all of them right now and is only going to get better.
2. The #5 WR on my board is Mohamed Sanu. The #15 receiver on my board is Devon Wylie. Any and every spot in between is basically interchangeable and would vary from team to team based on what they've got and what they need.
3. I have draftable grades on just 10 QBs: Luck, RG3, Tannehill, Weeden, Wilson, Cousins, Osweiler, Coleman, Harnish, and Kinne. I did not forget about Nick Foles or Kellen Moore.
4. Two guys I really wanted to like more than I wound up liking after watching more of them: Baylor C Philip Blake and West Virginia DE Bruce Irvin. Blake is tighter and less assertive than I want, while Irvin is almost freakishly allergic to contact; he either flies around the edge or he's running away from the blocks. There's a reason WVU often kept him welded to the bench in their base defense.
5. Two MAC school guys you're going to hear more about as we go forward: Miami OH G Brandon Brooks and Western Michigan WR Jordan White. Brooks is legit and could go as high as the 3rd round and will be a solid run blocker right away. Beware on White--he's overaged because he missed two full seasons with injuries (torn both ACLs, the left one twice) and he's not particularly quick or fast.
I have a hard time taking the WVU's coaching decisions seriously when they were lining Irvin head up on Tackles. He's an obvious Wide-9/edge rusher. He's allergic to run defense, but so is Jason Babin and Babin's found himself a spot in the league.
White seems like a guy who's getting overrated based on his stats. The guy doesn't have any freakish traits and nobody's been watching Western Michigan games.
I'd say that Tannehill has more potential, but he also makes some really bad decisions. Granted, Gabbert and Ponder aren't exactly setting the world on fire. I like Locker in the limited snaps he's seen.
