Barea-- Blake
Kobe--- Arenas
Beasley-- Artest
Scola ---Wallace
Howard--- Murphy

Whats so funny? the only thing that isn't in this rumor is Scola, so i guess that? we'd still be able to pick Arenas up right?

The only way I would do this is if Beasley could start at PF and not be a complete liability defensively, I haven't seen him play enough to know if he could or not.

Wallace/Murphy/McRoberts as the PF rotation is just turrible.

The trade makes some sense. Wolves give up a lot for Gasol - #2 pick in Williams, Barea, and Beasley. but Gasol is still a good player and would make a great combo at center (a better position for him at this age) with Love. Barea is not needed on the Wolves, and Derrick Williams and Michael Beasley both have "tweaner" problems. Assuming the Lakers threw in a couple of picks for the Magic, that's a decent trade all around.

Magic - 2nd best center in the league. Actually I was really starting to like Bynums game. A true center, plus the get a #2 pick, which the Wolves were not using to his fullest potential. Magic are set and their future looks bright, plus they won't have to deal with Howard in the East. Can they amnesty Hedo?, or did they use it already.

Lakers - Get the Best Center in the league all while thinning out the front court by losing Gasol. Beasley is meh, not sure about this guy, streaky at best and his head may be the problem. With Metta, Sheed, Beasley, Barnes, ah ****...Coach Brown won't be able to control this team. JJ Barea is a nicke pick up, anything is better than Fish. Wolves and Magic get the best part of the deal as Lakers still have to give up Bynum and Gasol, which was what all Laker fans wanted to avoid. Guess that kills the hope of Bynum for Howard and pieces, and Gasol for Deron and pieces. :-?

just curious, but do you think nj will trade deron to lakers for gasol and pieces? I highly doubt that, but then again we're talking about lakers, one of the teams that players want to play for.

No, these were just wishful, pipe dream thinking, Laker fans were hoping for (including me). But if true it comes down to still giving up Pau/Bynum for Howard. And lately the way Howard has been acting with the fans/media, I really am not to high on having him on the Lakers. But pretty sure that would all change if he does become one.

I would rather have Bynum and Gasol than Dwight. We just need help in the backcourt.

I cannot see this going down without the Lakers eating Hedonism in the deal and giving up the TPE.

Sorry, but Otis has made it pretty damn clear that he is not going to be bent over the way other teams have been.

yeh LOL.

d12 + 2 bench players (that lakers could acquire using the draft picks) for Gasol + Bynum...

Just because the trade is bad for others teams (IMHO no team gets better after this) doesn't mean it's great for the lakers.

beasley is terrible, barea is pretty good but redundant. lakers giving up a LOT there. might make them worse

minny probably gets better (in the short term, anyway), but not dramatically. orlando gets pretty reasonable return

Given how dominant Howard is, Beasley might actually fit well as an undersized "stretch" 4 next to him.

Honestly, I think it's all about bringing in a superstar post-Bryant for the Lakers. Besides 92-95', can you remember any time in the last forty years when there wasn't a legitimate superstar on their roster? Those Anthony Peeler/Doug Christie years were bizarre by their standards.

all their assets is a gross overstatement

they give up one asset (williams) and get a massive talent upgrade

they can easily flip gasol for assets that fit their team... like, say, to houston, for kevin martin and others.

This would be about equal for every team, Minny gets the player they want in Pau without giving up Love nor Rubio, while also gaining instant Spanish chemistry.

Rubio, Love, Pau = deadly big 3

The Magic would get good young talent in return, not only the best center, also a promising player in Williams

I don't understand why some fellow Laker fans here would not like this trade, It's not just Pau+Drew for Dwight, Beasley & Barrea in return would be amazing as well, Beasley is a young talent that I believe can be directed to become even better with a winning attitude team such as the Lakers, we would also get much needed PG help by the guy who pretty much killed us with his penetration in the playoffs, also would be receiving the best center in the NBA, don't forget #24 is still on the team. Of course I would only like this going down if we do end up getting Wallace as well.

Barrea
Kobe
Beasley
Wallace
Dwight

We become instant contenders once again + get younger
