I dont know if the Wolves should do that. I don't see Gasol fitting in and they are already nearly as good as the current Lakers. So why should they gift them Howard ?

Gasol and Rubio = multiple championships
Howard and Kobe = 1st rounde exit
Bynum + rest of magic = max 3th seed in the East
Howard and Kobe = 1st rounde exit

Only way this makes any sense is if Wolves are working on trading Gasol to another team..
With Gasol, the Wolves instantly become and top team in the West. They still need a wing, but Rubio/Love/Gasol in a pretty tough combo.
Good combo sure but by the time Rubio will be in his prime, Gasol will be on the brink of retirement. and in that time i don't see them getting past OKC, Lakers with Howard + Kobe or the Clippers.
I think its a better option to go with your young talent until your star is about to enter his prime and it's then you trade some of that talent to acquire some good playoffs experienced players. If this move happens, its a move 3 years too early for Wolves imo.

It's not all about winning a championship. Sometime it's about being competitive. With Gasol, this Wolves team can make some serious noise in the playoffs. It may sound crazy, but I think the Wolves should also get Turkuglu in the deal.

To complete for a championship, you need a superstar. Wolves are not getting past OKC regardless of anything. Not now and not in the future.
I would rather be competitive and make a deep playoff run than hold onto assets with unknown value. Gasol still have 3 good years in him. Rubio is pretty much in his prime (7 year pro) and Love is in his prime. Give this team the chance to complete.
P.S: I don't think the Lakers with Kobe/Howard are better the the Lakers with Kobe/Bynum/Gasol.

Wolves fan here. I agree with the smilies guy.
EDIT: Although the new board rules say that he shouldn't answer with smilies only or else he'll get a warn from the mods.

As a fan of none of the teams, this is probably one of the most fair deals I have ever seen. Everyone gets value and gives it. IMO, all three teams improve their long term prospects.

isn't that another reason one should hold on to assets? we both agree Wolves aren't competing with OKC now, but in the future that can change. Hence the reason i think this trade doesn't benefit Wolves that much in the long run (that plus i don't think its a good move to give up on your #2 pick 30 games in).

Rubio is only 21 years old man. If you think he's in his prime then what you see him doing when he's 27- 28 years old?

Re: rumor: 3 team trade wolves, lakers, magic
We don't need Howard and we don't want Howard is completely different.
I didn't say we will win a championship with our current roster. But what we NEED is a decent Point Guard and a Small Forward.
And by the way, did the article say that this trade is for an extended Howard?[/quote]
Well Barea is not one of the best in the league but he's a good PG. He was very important in the Dallas championship last year. Beasley is OK for small forward. Has some offensive skills that Ron doesn't and he still has some progression margin. Dwight is Dwight.
About the article I don't know if it mentions Howard in long term. But don't u agree with me that, if this happens, LA office will make sure it is for long term? Cause LA's office has proved many times that they can make great deals for LA.

Holding on to "assets" is never a good strategy IMO. I don't think they can get anything better than Pau with these assets.

I don't think Rubio gets much better than he is now. Not every player gets better every year. With Rubio, what you see is what you get. He's been a pro for a long time and his game is what it is.

Re: rumor: 3 team trade wolves, lakers, magic
What I gather from reading 17 pages on this tread, EVERYONE has their own bias agenda for whatever reasons and speak towards that. News flash : Convincing a fan base on realgm whether a trade is good or not has NO impact whatsoever on what Orlando Management will eventually do or what any franchise will do.
With that said, this is a pipe dream. Not going to happen...

I don't know. I don't think it's a bad trade but I'd rather just sign arenas and see how he does with the team we have now. Get Ariza and Ronny Turiaf back if we could.

Even LeBron still adding things to his game and he's 27 or 28 now with more 8 years in the league. What makes u think Rubio will not evolve in any area? I think he'll become a much better shooter and with experience will commit very few turn overs.

the only thing Lebron is doing better at this point than his MVP Cleveland days is defense, and that's probably more and effort issue.
Rubio could possible improve is turnovers, but those have to do a lot with his style of play.

i don't know man. I still think Williams will do good in the league and Rubio will improve in the coming years. Even if Rubio doesn't improve his game isn't going to drop off in 3-4 years. So imo Wolves will have plenty of opportunities to acquire good playoffs experienced players.
