Miller is a slow(er) Austin Daye with a little more toughness. I don't even think he's a lock for the 1st round as of right now.

MKG is great at transition ball but he's not going to be anything special in the half-court. That puts him #3 among the wings to me, at best.

I agree with being slow though. He's gotta pick it up defensively.

You want A defensive orientated SF; you already have JJ.
MKG doesnt have the game to be a 20ppg in the NBA
Now Barnes will automatically bring a combination of offensive and defensive talent in the SF position that we do not have.
could care less about his wingspan but still agree, last thing you spend a precious lotto pick on is an all-arounder
need a scorer bad. Barnes at least gives hope of a franchise type thanks to his shooting. He looks a little all-arounder-ish to me, and a little robotic too, but I'll trust the experts. And maybe it's the opposite anyways, maybe he's just on a level where he always takes the right angles and edits out the noise and just happens to make him look robotic

If we get the #5 pick, I want the Raps to trade up to #1 pick ...trade the pick and anyone our team, including Bargnani, Ed Davis, Derozen. Antonia Davis is the type of Franchise player you can build around... a two way player like Duncan, KG, Dwight Howard.
#5 pick
Bargnani
for
#1 pick
filler
#5 pick
Bargnani
for
#1 pick

Am I the only one who thinks this draft is way way to overrated? In any given year there are prospects like this, perhaps there is a little more depth in 15-20 range like Wroten and Marshall etc
Davis - Potential Defensive POY
Drummond - Could be Amare could be Thabeet
Barnes - Likely to be a Grant Hill type player
Lamb - Who knows, can score, but will his game work in the NBA
Sullinger - Al Jefferson 2.0
Perry Jones - Anthony Randolph or TMAC who knows
MKG - Roll Player
Davis - Potential Defensive POY
Drummond - Could be Amare could be Thabeet
Barnes - Likely to be a Grant Hill type player
Lamb - Who knows, can score, but will his game work in the NBA
Sullinger - Al Jefferson 2.0
Perry Jones - Anthony Randolph or TMAC who knows
MKG - Roll Player

Why waste money on Chandler?? and Davis is power forward and therefor you either make Bargnani you future 6th man or trade him while his value is high for go to scorer at the wing and someone who can create his own shot. I like front court of Val and Davis in the future ...

Difference
1. Age - more potential
2. Work Ethic - JJ's work ethic was questioned in Chicago (he was chubby). MKG never
3. Offensive skillset - shows more ability on the offensive end. Even a better shot

To better answer your question go like this - what's the difference between Crash and JJ? JJ is taller and longer I believe. Also imagine how could MKG would be on a non-stacked Kentucky team? I don't see MKG as a superstar but he's a good scorer and an excellent defender even in high school. Imagine him and JJ in Casey's system. If JV, Bargs and DD are the primary scorers he will be ideal for this team.
What other wings do you suggest?
At the same age in college, they put up almost exactly the same numbers in the same conference. Since I see their roles as defensive role players / do a bit of everything SF's I was wondering about the comparison.
I'm not sure that MKG is going to be much better than a 12/5 guy in the NBA because I don't see him as a 1st or 2nd type of option guy. He may get a couple assists, a block & a rebound and be the glue on a team though but he's a complimentary piece. In that regard he's going to play a similar role that James Johnson plays in the NBA.
That being said, I wouldn't want to draft a glue guy wing player with a top 5 pick really. Mid to late Lotto sure that's probably reasonable and he's good value there. I see him #3 on DX and I kinda shake my head and a lot of people here seem to agree with it.
I haven't seen a compelling argument why I may be wrong.

If Barnes has Grant Hill potential he would be the number 1 pick.

That's what I'm thinking too. It was supposed to be a much vaunted draft class, but I don't see anyone who's going to be an all star except Barnes. Davis could be an all-nba defender but not an all star and the rest is sub star talent or question marks

Barnes has nothing in common with Grant Hill, their games have nothing in common.
I see Barnes as a slightly better version of All-Star Luol Deng

they werent the same age, JJ was 2 years older than his class. He was a 20 year old freshman, while MKG is among the youngest freshman in. He's 18 and will only turn 19 in september.

The Luol Deng comparison is as accurate as the Grant Hill comparison, neither are even close. Danny Granger/Jamal Mashburn are the best comparisons made to this point.

Re: Official Raptors 2012 NBA Draft Thread, Part 6
I think there's much more potential in this draft class than we've seen from other classes but there are a hell of a lot of question marks too.
Davis - Is he a defense only type guy or a true two-way player? He'll have to add weight
Drummond - Thabeet or D12 + Amare hybrid? Center or Power Forward?
Barnes - Probably the safest pick in the draft. Questions about his ball handling
PJ3 - Anthony Randolph or Chris Bosh?
MKG - Iggy or James Johnson or Tony Allen?
Beal - Probably the second safest pick in the draft. Questions about his height
Miller - Defense is a problem. Coming off a serious injury. Does he even declare?
Lamb - Interchangeable as the second or third safest pick in the draft with Beal.
Sullinger - Height looks like it may be a concern
Robinson - Height looks like it may be a concern. How will his game translate to the NBA?
Henson - PF or C in the NBA? How will he hold up. No offense and defense may not translate due to lack of size
The list goes on and on. If I'm Bryan Colangelo, I would bring in as much guys as I can for workouts (regardless of position), measurements, one-on-ones and it might be useful for them decision-makers to organize a big workout like was done last year (by invite) so everyone can get a look at who does what and how the play against equal competition. I think the player we would draft will come down to who we think we can develop the best and use the best going forward. Everyone has question marks so it's going to be about potential and who can be the best down the line.

He doesnt have the handle and the fluidity has an athlete to create like Granger does, or the real Grant Hill used to do.
He is more the robotic type, robotic like Deng

The rest of your post is your opinion, its ok for you to believe it. Just wanted to clarify what wasnt true. You can't say. ''Look he's like JJ they put up the same stats at the same age'' if 1 is 20 while the other is 18. What do you think MKG's stats would look as a Junior!? And while you see a complimentary player like JJ, I see an all star like Marion. Nothing wrong with disagreeing there. Just the fact that people think he's a finished product, or that his flaws won't be corrected while he would be drafted at 18 years old, is pretty amazing. His coach compared his mental make-up to Derrick Rose, you think a guy like that won't put the time in and improve the things he needs to?

Deng is a laughably bad comparison and anyone who's watched both of them play a lot will realize it. Just because they're both dark skinned black dudes doesn't make their game similar. However, Harrison is almost a carbon copy of Jamal Mashburn on the court, right down to the skin tone.
