BelgianMagic wrote:Probably been discussed before, but what do y'all think about that Minny/LAL/ORL rumored trade?

We'd get Bynum & Derrick Williams

I'm not really a fan of that trade .. Duhon/Hedo/Baby have to go too ..

I dont like Derrick based on what Ive seen so far...
neither fish nor fowl
not really a PF ...and lack the skillset required for prototypical SF
not saying he is not talented...
but still
I dont think he will ever be a star

so screw Lakers why they always get best end of the deal?

Id say either Gasol+Bynum straight up (and WE flip Gasol to other team BUT as or if we like) OR GTFO

I think his biggest problem is that were basically a half court offensive team while he thrives on the fast break.

Jrich has to be most athletic player on our team, he does nothing to show it, he stands behind the 3pt line, he does not drive to the basket. I expect more from him, i rather keep JJ at least tries and moves without the ball.

Well J-Rich driving to the basket w/ the ball in his hands isn't going to end well. The man dribbles like Ron Artest. Also I'll have to disagree w/ ya J_n about J-Rich earning his salary. Just too inconsistent (like a lot of players on our team).

At 5.4 million this year J rich is earning almost the least out of all starting guards in the league(not including starters on rookie contracts) and gets less than a lot of bench players including his backup JJ redick.

Im sure if we were a good offensive team with a more traditional distributing pg, that occasionally tries to push the tempo, he would be putting up closer to his suns numbers.

I also think that the media will press him for a decision. He may or may not come to one this weekend but it sure does help that the world of basketball media continues to press him.

Otis needs to do his damn job and get him some help. And for those that say that he's not sitting on his ass, I don't argue that but he needs to get the better of a team to keep Dwight.

Can't be a bad thing to sit down Monday morning and reflect on a fun weekend of celebs, rappers, movie stars, reporters, and a ton of fans invading your city for a huge party hosted by Dwight himself. If he wins AS MVP, which he should and better, I think it really helps our chances.

what GM is going to help Otis? it takes 2 to trade and I doubt anyone is lining up to help Otis with anything. Moves like Bass/Dallas havent made him any friends.

I somewhat agree with that....although at times i think wonder if Dwight's supporting cast really that bad? i look at the "Superstar" in Deron Williams and his team isn't better because he's there...they suck just as much....Is our success solely on Dwight so far?.....i remember some wins this season where Dwight played like a dog and his team bailed him out and got the win.....I agree we need to get him some help but i'm not quite sure Dwight's supporting cast is the worst of all time like some believe....

GMs don't make trades to help their friends, they make trades to help their franchises.

I strongly disagree. he's shooting a bad percentage at 37%, but, he's definitely not "garbage". he's averaging 13.3ppg, 3.8rpg, 3.8ast, and 1.1stl... as a ROOKIE.

And don't forget that these rooks haven't had a training camp or many practices. Makes what Kyrie Irving is doing even more impressive

slightly OT, but does anyone else think Sacramento will be the front runners to overpay Anderson this summer??

they've got a similar set up to what we have, so he'd fit in perfectly, if not better.

Cousins
Anderson
Salmons
Thornton
Evans

gives them a dominant big man, a dynamic guard who can drive and kick out, other perimeter threats, and then Anderson who can do exactly what he does here and thrive.

not to mention it's his hometown - i think we definitely have to be prepared for them to overpay for him.

i'm starting to think Gerald Wallace is a reasonable option for the Magic to pursue.

we've already been linked to him via the original NJ rumours, so if they're true, then clearly the team already has an appreciation for him. he's a gritty hustle player, the kind that Dwight would LOVE on the team. and the Blazers would probably prefer to move him to make room for Batum.

i don't think a straight up swap between the Magic and Blazers works, however.

my proposal:

POR
in: Kaman + Duhon
out: Wallace + Felton

NOH
in: Beasley + Orton + Harper
out: Kaman

MIN
in: JJ/JRich (their choice) + QRich
out: Beasley

ORL
in: Wallace + Felton
out: JJ/JRich + Q + Du + Orton + Harper + whatever picks it takes to get NOH on board.

Dwight
Anderson/BBD
Wallace/Hedo
(JJ/JRich)/Von/Liggins
Nelson/Felton

gives us a solid PG who offers a big alternative to Jameer, plus who is an expiring. gives us a wickedly deep front court rotation with so many matchup problems.

it's not the be all and end all of deals, but considering we still get to keep Anderson and could potentially make moves on top of this deal, i think it's a good start.

surely a package of Anderson + Wallace + Felton could land you a star??

Not bad Ben. I think that helps all teams involved. Especially, if the Magic could still keep JJ.

I think good win now move would be anderson and nelson duhon for harris and milsap we need more defense they need shooting we I dont think we dont need a great second option to win it all just need strenghten a couple weaknesses lack of speed and rebounding and most important a sense of urgency
our players are good but system somewhat restricts them playing to there strenghts they run the same play all game long. good defensive team always beaten us the same way. nelson is a very good player our second most important but his defensive weakness all ways kill us playoff time. Anderson is very improved our best asset but im willing to move him now for millsap. duhun just needs to go asap.
